# Gratitude
This is a great idea by my friend @conradt and I was delighted to be nominated by another great friend @mariannewest.
This is day 7 of what I am grateful for.
You can see @conradt's initial post [here](https://steemit.com/7daypositivitychallenge/@conradt/7-day-positivity-challenge-day-1) to get a background of what this is all about. The general idea is to spread positivity here on Steemit for 7 days, by posting each day about something you are grateful for, and in doing so promote a positive mental health outlook and to show we all have things to be grateful for, even in the face of adversity and struggles, there is always a chink of light, if we look close enough.
# What am I grateful for today?
I am grateful for the sounds that fill my ears everyday. I'm a huge music fan, and music fills my life wherever I am, and whatever I'm doing. I like all sorts of music from Rock to Reggae and from Dance to Gangster Rap and everything in between. That is the beauty of music, depending on my mood, time of day, time of year, people I'm hanging with, my musical tastes can morph. But, I tell you one thing, I absolutely love music, it is great medicine, and I'd be lost without it.
So thank you to all of the wonderful musicians out there. You are truly appreciated.
Here is a flavour of the music I am into. I put one of my playlists on shuffle, and here are the first ten songs that played out... Hopefully you enjoy them...
Pearl Jam's Ten album is one of my all time favorites, and it never really resides outside of my top five albums of all time. Start to finish, it is pure gold, not a bad track in sight in my opinion. This is one of my favorite's from that album.
# Pearl Jam - Even Flow

Another of my favorite bands from my early teenage years, and they stuck with me down through the years. Their 1991 album *Blood Sugar Sex Magik* was sublime. It is filled with brilliant songs that have stood the test of time. I love this song. It was written by Anthony Kiedis after he was dumped by Irish musician Sinead O'Connor.
# Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Could Have Lied
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pi9dIpfWd4c
Delighted that one of Damo's songs popped up. This Irish singer song writer has had a little bit of success, but not near as much as he deserves in my opinion. This is a really nice song.
# Damien Dempsey - Soft Rain

This is a Nine Inch Nails song, and I really detest cover songs, almost always. This one is an exception to the rule, as Johnny Cash sings it vividly, brilliantly, poignantly. He was dying at the time, and the raw emotion he evokes is breath taking.
# Johnny Cash - Hurt

Guns and Roses were always being played in my house when I was a kid, and one of the first songs I remember rocking out to was Paradise City. I loved it then and I love it now. I remember being around seven and turning this up full blast on the TV and started head banging around our sitting room. It was one of those old fashioned tellys with no remote control.. There was a little slider thing you had to push up and down, and I had it up to the max! :o)

These guys are one of my favorite bands at the moment, and I am lucky enough to have seen them live three times, and I will be seeing them again next month. I cannot wait!! I don't get to nearly as many gigs as I used to, so this is going to be very special. This is just a sample of their brilliance..
# The National - Bloodbuzz Ohio
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K779pqvYQds
It's hard to believe that this genius is dead, but he has left us with lots of memories, here's one..
# David Bowie - Space Oddity

Another absolute stall-worth of my youth, My older brother and sister were big Pink Floyd fans, so I too became a fan, and still am to this day. I was lucky enough to see Roger Water's *The Wall* tour when he visited Ireland in 2011, and it was sublime.
# Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here

Ha ha, I was wondering if one of my random unusual artists would pop, this guy is one of them... he has some brilliant stuff...
# Buck 65 - Wicked and Weird
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wyyVh3uc5Y
Ah yes, a nice way to finish off, I'm a big fan of this guy, and he has some really good albums, and is an all round nice guy.
