 Good Day, Steemians. It is  yet another day and I hope I’d met you well. 

Well, with my cup of coffee within sight and my brain running wild I thought this is the right time to finally talk about a spectacular phenomenon portrayed in a movie, [Self/Less,](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self/less) I saw few days ago on Movie Zone. Thinking about the movie, even now, makes me excited. Kindly permit me to briefly summarise the concept of the movie.

A real-estate tycoon was dying of a terminal cancer. He finds a business card on his deathbed directing him to call a Professor who could actually provide him with a new human body which, according to the professor, was artificially grown. The tycoon agrees and the procedure was quite successful.

Not long after this, it was discovered that the new body was not actually a lab grown body but one which was 'hacked' by simply overriding the original owner's consciousness with that of the new owner's and thus sustaining this with the aid of a drug. <br><br>At a point, the new owner forgot to take the drug and everything began to fall apart. The secrets were blown and hell was set loose. Eventually, the new owner of the body allows the original owner to take over his body by refusing to further take the drugs.

Interesting, right? Well, wait until you hear the suspense-ive sound and the mind-blowing pictures and every other manipulating element the producer had embedded in the movie. (smiles)

So what have I set out to discuss, afterall?

Yea… Shedding Neurology.

That’s the concept. The very concept that ensured  the hacking of the consciousness of one mind over another. 

But, wait a minute. Is this even possible?

# But First, What is Shedding Neurology?
Well, it may interest you to know that prior to the movie, [Self/Less,](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self/less), though there were the terms ‘shedding’ and ‘neurology’ existing differently, but there was never their existence side by side. Thus, I am forced to define Shedding Neurology according to its concept portrayed in the movie.

Shedding Neurology is simply a part of neurology that deals with [the act of detaching from and discarding an old body in favor of a new one.](https://www.bustle.com/articles/95476-is-shedding-possible-selfless-science-is-mind-blowing-but-is-it-real)

### But is this even possible?

According to its plot, it was evident that the old self of the new body is not dead but only suppressed or made dormant by the use of a drug whose origin and composition is only known to the villain acted by Matthew Goode as Professor Albright. <br><br>

What the movie has exploited is the concept of organ transplanting. However, the movie, Self/Less, only took it a step further by suggesting the possibility of transplanting a whole human body (including the brain) which, in itself, is a marvel happening.

No doubt, numerous movies have touched upon this possibility amongst which is [Get-Out](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Get_Out). Get-Out is a 2017 American horror film that presented same scenario but from a psychological point of view (hypnosis) and, of course, medical surgery. However, the concept of shedding, according to Self/Less, is quite different in the sense that the human consciousness was regarded as a digitized database wherein its data content can be downloaded and uploaded to another body.

# But one question bothers one here – Is Consciousness REALLY A Digitized Data That Is Transferable?

There is the inquiry: Is consciousness data that can be collected, organized and stored for future use, or rather for purpose of overriding another person’s consciousness with? Can the human mind be digitized?

 At this point, I will be moved to bring our awareness to the existence of a movement populated by the rich people (hmmm) all over the world seeking for means to make death a thing of the past by 2045, spearheaded by the Russian entreprenuer, Dmitry Itskov.<br><br>

In fact, the concept of mind transfer has begun to witness huge attention from neuroscientists and tech savvies around the world. During a Global Futures 2045 International Congress, the director of engineering of Google, Ray Kurzwell, was reported to have said that:

> [We're going to become increasingly non-biological to the point where the non-biological part dominates and the biological part is not important any more.](https://www.express.co.uk/news/science/661470/EXPLAINED-How-we-will-soon-be-able-to-upload-our-MINDS-to-computers)

And even the late physicist, Stephen Hawking, was once reported to have noted that the brain is like

And just early this year, [Humai Tech](http://www.humaitech.com/the-beginning-is-near/), in a very short blog post (in less than 100 words), claims to soon be able to transplant the human brain into a bionic body called Humai. While the human essence of the new body will only be relevant through the presence of the brain, the bionic body (including the limbs and the other organs) will be artificial thus providing means for repairs in case of damage or aging.

If this is the present extent of our attempt to live forever, I personally reckon that we are getting closer than we actually think.

When asked about the possibility of consciousness transfer, Charles Higgins, associate professor of neuroscience at the University of Arizona, STRONGLY thinks that this is quite possible someday.

If this is the case, why! Lets both wait upon 2045 when different tech bodies, entrepreneurs, investors and even scientists think that this phenomenon would have become a reality.
