Covergirl Supersizer The Big Curl Mascara Review
Well it's the beginning of another week....how was your weekend? I got some much needed cleaning done this weekend and I had a hair appointment. Other than that, my weekend was pretty uneventful. But that doesn't make it bad, just boring. :)

Today, I wanted to finally give a review of the Covergirl Supersizer Big Curl Mascara.

I found mine at Walmart for a little less than $6 US. Which is priced about right for most drugstore mascaras.

I love the claims it has;

Big curl brush that coats lashes from root to tip

Supersized curl + Volume in an instant

Lifted curled lash look that lasts all day

Suitable for contact wearers, ophthalmologist tested

Easily removes with soap and water

Alrighty, let's talk about the brush for a second...its very big!! It's nothing like the original Supersizer mascara. It's big and has a deep curl in it. First off, I have very small eyes and I LOVE curled wands. I wish ever single mascara wand had a large curl in it. It makes it easier for me to coat all of the lashes with. I am not straining my arm trying to position the brush a million different ways to get all the lashes. I am able to run it through my lashes as many times as needed and not have to keep moving the brush to each edge, just keeping it in the middle and it gets all the lashes for me. I think that this or any curled wand might be harder for someone with larger eyes than me and it could end up making a mess. But for me these just work.

Here's the difference in the wand for the Big Curl and the original Supersizer. Do you see how big that wand is on the Big Curl? It's huge!! I didn't actually have a tube of the original, so I had to scope out a photo for you to look at. I don't really care that much for the original Supersizer formula, so when I ran out, I didn't repurchase.

Anyways, I love the wand on this. However, if I could change one thing it would be to make it a more traditional brush hairs, not the stiff plastic ones. I feel those types will give me more volume than the plastic spikes. And, sometimes those spikes can hurt....ouch!!

Supersized curl and volume in an instant is the next claims it makes. Well, it does give me volume and a slight curl. But I put this mascara up against my Loreal Lash Paradise and the results of the Covergirl wasn't quite what Loreal has going for it.

![4.jpg](https://cdn.steemitimages.com/DQmaCPn81ka1GN4ad9JdGCpAzQsqpw6edN1kAtAa5ku1mBe/4.jpg)

So I used three coats of each. On the eye on YOUR left you will see the Loreal Lash Paradise and the eye on YOUR right you will see I used the Covergirl Big Curl and Volume.

If you are looking on the bottom photo at the eye on your left, you will see the lashes are curled slightly higher than the eye on the right. They touch my brow bone a bit on the left. An if you are looking closely you will that the left one has a bit more volume to it as well at the bottom of the lash line.

Another issue with the formula is that it is too wet at first. It took me about three weeks (for it to dry down a bit) before the formula was suitable to give me enough volume to notice. So I do think there is room for some improvement in the formula.

Next claim is the lifted curl that lasts all day. Well we just covered the "curl" portion of it. So the claim of lasting all day. I would say so. I don't notice any sort of smudging, flaking or color fading of the mascara. There's no transfer onto my brow bone or under my eyes. So I am overall happy as to how it wears. One thing I especially like about this formula over the original formula is that your lashes have more movement and are a tiny bit softer. On the original Supersizer, my lashes would be so hard and stiff that it felt as though it was pulling the lashes out by the roots when I blinked. It's such an odd thing to feel, but every time I used the original, that's what it felt like and it was truly painful.

Suitable for contact wearers is the next claim and then it easily removes with soap and water. So, yes and yes. I wear contacts and have no trouble wearing it. And, I do use soap and water to remove it quite easily. This is NOT waterproof formula. I don't wear water proof anything unless I know I'll be in severe heat or know there might be tears. So I can't vouch for the waterproof formula. But I would agree with the last two claims for sure.

My final thoughts....I will keep using this mascara until I run it out. However, I don't know if I'd buy another tube. I like the brush and that is my absolute favorite part of the mascara. But I had to wait a few weeks for the wet formula to dry down a bit before it gave me any sort of volume.

I wish I could take the brush and put it into the Loreal Lash Paradis. I think I'd like that combination much better. For whether or not I'd recommend it......um I'd say no to that. I think there are better ones out there. If the Loreal is too expensive for drugstore mascaras, I do love the Kokie Cosmetics mascara. That one you will have to wait about a week of using before it stiffens up as well, because it is a slightly a wet formula. But it will dry down much quicker than the Covergirl.

So that's all of my thoughts on the Covergirl Supersizer Big Curl and Volume mascara. What did you think? Do you go for curl, length, volume or all three? I NEVER go for length on my mascaras. I have naturally long lashes and I don't need them any longer. And to be honest, I don't care if it gives me curl. I can curl my lashes myself. I just want crazy, mad volume....that's all I'm after.

Well, that's all I have for today. I hope it was helpful and I hope you will come back and visit me again here at 523. Tomorrow I have one of a few tutorials to show you using the new Maybelline City Mini pallet I purchased with my birthday money. But until next time, take care.
