Essentia Will Secure Your Health Information

<h2>Essentia Means Well For Your Health</h2>
<p>The health of a living organism according to WHO is said to be the state of complete mental and physical well-being of that organism and does not entirely mean an absence of disease. As humans, achieving good health is a very important part of our lives and we find innovative ways daily to attain a better state of health.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The Internet is a valuable tool with applications that can be tailored to finding solutions to problems in almost every sector in the human life and health isn't left out. Over the past few years, there has been an exponential increase in the amount and types of health services being offered on the internet "eHealth".</p>

<p>E-Health is a very large movement with a lot of different sectors like ePrescribing, telemedicine, computerized physician order entry etc. However, in this article, I will be looking into mHealth (Mobile Health) sector of eHealth, their vulnerabilities, how our personal data is at risk and how the blockchain solution ESSENTIA is going to make mHealth a secure space for its users.</p>
<h2>M-Health And How We Expose Ourselves On The Internet</h2>
<p>mHealth is a part of eHealth that utilizes the use of mobile phones, mobile applications, and some consumer-grade mobile devices to monitor, record and collect a person's information and health vitals, in order to provide real-time information to health practitioners and the patient for the purpose of administration of care.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Mobile health apps are very common in our everyday lives and millions of patients use these applications yearly for different reasons, however the issues of data security is a pressing concern as this is largely an unregulated space and there is no real transparency or oversight on how this information is being used, stored and who has access to them.</p>
<h2>Mobile Applications Are Not As Secure As We Think</h2>
<p>When making my research I came across a recent publication by <a href="https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2018/02/180220102418.htm">ScienceDaily</a> which claims that a larger percentage of the popular health applications that are available on Android devices do not totally comply with, or breaches some of the set standards intended to prevent the misuse and dissemination of their users' data by applications.</p>
<p><strong>What really happens:</strong> The way privacy policy and access permission for this applications is such that when a user downloads an app for use, he/she gets a message that says something like "by installing this application you will allow access to your location, phone book, calendar, camera and so on" from this point it is either sinks or swim for the him/her, the user either accepts this terms or will not be able to use these applications. However, this terms will not state that some applications store your personal data on cloud storage, or refuse to inform the users about their full privacy policy, meaning they can share the acquired from users with third parties without the knowledge or consent of the owner.</p>
<p>Some of the data security risks health applications users faces are:</p>
<ul>
  <li>Insecure health data transfers to users</li>
  <li>Insecure and unpermitted exchange of data between applications and third parties</li>
  <li>Data Leaks</li>
  <li>Insecure connections while administering passwords</li>
</ul>
<p>With the current systems, user's data are seldom secure and people lack control over it.</p>
<h2>Essentia Providing The Solution</h2>

<p>On the Essentia framework, each user represents a seed and only this seed has complete access control over their personal data.</p>
<p>Integration of Essentia with physical assets like mobile phones and other devices is quite easy and has been made possible by its modular design, meaning the framework is very flexible and its backend can be adapted to integrate physical assets like cars, phones, smart watches, computers, complex machines and many more.</p>
<p>mHealth devices record all forms of data, from pulse rate, blood pressure, sugar level, sleeping patterns and a lot more, they are a real-time diagnostic machines helping us know and treat ourselves better. However, when this data is being exchanged illegally without oversight there is no telling what hands it may get into and what it will be used for.</p>
<p><strong>For example: </strong>A man showing some critical symptoms for a disease/illness may want to send his data over to his doctor but may not want his insurance company to know about it, or a person may want to keep his health history from his employer if he knows it may prevent him from getting hired or getting a promotion.</p>
<p>Privacy is a very important asset in the digital world so there needs to be a way to secure personal data without the fear or worry of leaks, hacks or theft. Essentia takes care of all of this giving the user (seed) complete control of his data, granting access to whom he wants and rebuking access to those people/bodies you do not. With Essentia a person no longer has to worry about installing applications because all information or data that these health apps try to acquire will be needed to be authorized by the user (seed).</p>
<p>Also when a person does decide to share his data with another entity, he or she can decide to be anonymous thus doing so without compromising his identity. With Essentia integration and adoption, mHealth services can be adopted on a wider scale and improve the way healthcare is being delivered to patients all over the world.</p>
<p>By solving these problems, some of the properties that the Essentia platform put to use are; full encryption of personal user data with cryptographic technology, privacy, security, decentralization and full transparency.</p>

thanks, essentia is applicable to a lot of aspects of our daily lives, essentia goes as far as protecting our normal daily online activities, ite is also applicable to kyc procedures and more.
