<h2>Los Antiguos (parte 10)</h2>

El fondo del océano estaba formado principalmente de silicatos y basalto, era notable la carencia de minerales de calcio y la baja concentración de sales disueltas, la capa de hielo oceánica estaba casi desprovista de rastros de vida, sólo algunas moléculas complejas basadas en nitrógeno, parecían mostrar restos de alguna forma de vida basada en este elemento.

―Lo que sea que haya vivido aquí no dejo casi rastros de su existencia ―dijo Faith Ibraimovich, observado las imágenes del microscopio de barrido de electrones ―. Sólo algunas pocas moléculas complejas.

―Las sublimadoras pronto alcanzarán el nivel de la ciudad, probablemente en los estratos más profundos se encuentre algo, o en la ciudad misma ―respondió Valentina Riquelme, una estudiante de Saul, que había sido asignada a asistirla.

―Ese lejano y casi invisible resplandor rojizo de allá, es la respuesta. Creo que eso fue responsable ―respondió Ibraimovich

―Pero, ¿cómo pudo esta especie prosperar aquí?, no soy bióloga, pero supongo que este entorno no es adecuado para que prolifere la vida ―comentó Valentina.

―No creo que haya prosperado en presencia de la estrella negra, sino antes del colapso de la supergigante roja original ―dijo Ibraimovich

―Entonces usted cree que estuvieron aquí durante el colapso, eso es inconcebible ―dijo Valentina sorprendida por la suposición de Ibraimovich―. Una civilización con los medios para hacer viajes interestelares y más aun con colonias establecidas, que se sepa, al menos en otro planeta, pudo haber dejado este mundo y salvarse de la catástrofe, el colapso de una estrella es suficientemente predecible, como para que pueda tomar por sorpresa a toda una raza avanzada.

―Tu afirmación es completamente correcta ―respondió Ibraimovich ―. Al menos según nuestros estándares, nosotros mismos los humanos, abandonamos la Tierra antes de que fuera completamente inhabitable, pero y si para los antiguos, su mundo tuviera un significado diferente, que el que la Tierra tuvo para nosotros, y si los resultase imposible apartarse de él.

―Entiendo, pero aun me resulta incomprensible, quedarse a esperar el fin, teniendo los medios para escapar.

Horas más tarde, el paquete de datos enviado desde la estación BN34 contendría información recabada de la exploración de la colonia de los antiguos, encontrada a doce años luz, según los resultado preliminares, la colonia era una estación de minería, bajo su superficie ahora inundada, la corteza del planeta había sido extensamente excavada y su material se suponía extraído fuera del planeta masivamente.

<h2>The Ancients (part 10)</h2>

The bottom of the ocean was mainly formed by silicates and basalt, it was remarkable the lack of calcium minerals and the low concentration of dissolved salts, the oceanic ice layer was almost devoid of traces of life, only some complex molecules based on nitrogen, seemed to show remains of some form of life based on this element.
