<h2>Los Antiguos (parte 18)</h2>
El video mostraba una imagen, a muy baja resolución, de la cúpula de la estructura principal de una ciudad, en medio de las montañas, mostraba el recorrido por un corto pasadizo, hasta llegar al espacio central del edificio y en su interior unas diez naves suspendidas a diferentes alturas en las proximidades de la columna central, que se iluminaba débilmente, con un fulgor similar al de fuego ardiendo, luego de eso la filmación terminaba bruscamente.

―Son miles de archivos cortos como ese, no he logrado decodificar audio que los acompañe ―dijo Iriana ―. Su visión era simple, como pueden ver, la densidad de puntos es muy baja y su sensibilidad a longitudes de onda van del infrarrojo al ultravioleta, pero con una paleta de colores escasa.

―¿Tu códex permite visualizar todos los registros de video? ―preguntó Vincent.

―Eso creo, pero sólo lo he probado con algunos, según el analizador de registros, todos llevan la misma forma de codificación ―respondió

―Excelente trabajo Iriana, es una fortuna que hayas tomado la iniciativa de seguir este camino, francamente nunca pensé que esos registros fueran una forma de memoria documental en video ―dijo Vincent, mientras veía las imágenes repetirse una y otra vez en la proyección frente al grupo de criptógrafos reunidos en la sala.

―Realicé un índice ordenado de las entradas, al parecer los antiguos no llevaban un registro de video continuo de sus actividades, creo que usaban sus sensores ópticos, sólo cuando lo necesitaban, supongo que como un mecanismo para hacer uso eficiente del almacenamiento ―explicó Iriana.

―Magnifico, le trasmitiremos estos datos a los arqueólogos, para que los estudien.

―Olvide comentar algo que me pareció interesante ―interrumpió Iriana ―. Por el tamaño de los archivos y su cantidad, no deben haber más de quince mil horas de video, sin embargo, los cristales tienen capacidad para varios cientos de miles de horas y una memoria visual de doce mil horas se me hace poca para una vida, que supongo no debió ser tan breve como para tener poco más de dos años estándar de Heracles, más aun tratándose de una sonda que fue encontrada a más de treinta años luz, del que se supone fue su mundo de origen.

―¿Entonces a que crees que pueda deberse eso Iriana?

―Creo que sus memorias de video debieron ser removidas en algún momento, para dar lugar a nuevos registros, tal como hacemos con nuestras propias sondas, antes de reutilizarlas ―explicó ―. Es posible que en algún lugar haya algún repositorio de registros de video de las diferentes sondas, supongo que debería ser en el planeta.

La imagen de cientos esferas construidas con módulos multifuncionales, cargadas de mineral de hierro, níquel y aluminio, elevándose desde las profundidades del océano de un desconocido mundo, aparentemente despoblado, con un oscuro cielo de color ámbar, que delataba una atmósfera probablemente tóxica, contrastaba con otras, de planetas de apariencia más amigables, donde también, cientos de sondas extraían minerales en volúmenes descomunales, para luego transportarlos presumiblemente a los lugares donde se construían las monumentales esferas de Dyson como las que habían hallado a varias decenas de años luz del planeta de los antiguos.

En otro video se podía ver a la distancia, una horda de miles de sondas, desplazándose en lo que podrían llamarse gigantescas parvadas, que se movían sincronizadamente por el espacio, como descomunales nubes tecnológicas que viajaban con un rumbo desconocido.

―Esto es fascinante ―comentó Saul, embelesado con las imágenes que, como si se tratase de la proyección de una película, se había reunido a ver, el grupo de arqueólogos, en la estación, en órbita alrededor del planeta de los antiguos. 

―Hay varios miles de horas de video, se supone que los registros están ordenados cronológicamente, pero no tenemos claro cual es el espacio de tiempo transcurrido entre un video y otro, existe gran diferencia entre las imágenes de videos sucesivos, por lo que pueden existir grandes lapsos entre ellos ―explicó el ingeniero Reinosa, quien fue encargado por Kon de presentar la nueva información llegada desde BN34 ―. Este video me pareció particularmente interesante ―comentó mientras iniciaba la proyección de otro de los registros

Se pudo ver cómo, a la distancia, en lo que parecía ser la órbita baja de algún planeta, en medio de una agrupación de algunas decenas de sondas, varias de ellas, parecían disgregarse y cambiar su forma como si de un fluido que flota en el espacio se tratase, justo antes de empezar a ingresar a la atmósfera, tomando el aspecto de una cuña, más alargada y ahusada aun, de lo que normalmente eran, disminuyendo su superficie de contacto con la atmosfera e ingresando al planeta como si de gigantescos y afilados dardos se tratase.

―Fascinante ― repitió Saul, observando atentamente la escena.

<h2>The Ancients (part 18)</h2>

The video showed an image, at very low resolution, of the dome of the main structure of a city, in the middle of the mountains, it showed the route through a short passage, until it reached the central space of the building and in its interior about ten ships suspended at different heights in the vicinity of the central column, which was illuminated weakly, with a glow similar to that of burning fire, after that the filming ended abruptly.

-There are thousands of short files like that, I haven't been able to decode audio to go with them -said Iriana -. Their vision was simple, as you can see, the density of points is very low and their sensitivity to wavelengths goes from infrared to ultraviolet, but with a poor color palette.

-Does your codex allow to view all the video records? -Vincent asked.

-I think so, but I've only tried it on a few, according to the log analyzer, they all have the same form of coding, -she replied

-Excellent work Iriana, it is a fortune that you have taken the initiative to follow this path, frankly I never thought that these registers were a form of documentary video memory -said Vincent, as he saw the images repeated over and over again in the projection in front of the group of cryptographers gathered in the room.

-I made an orderly index of the entries, it seems that the ancients did not keep a continuous video record of their activities, I think they used their optical sensors, only when they needed to, I suppose as a mechanism to make efficient use of storage -explained Iriana.
-Iriana explained. 

-Magnificent, we will transmit this data to the archaeologists, so they can study it.

-I forgot to comment on something I found interesting, -interrupted Iriana -. Because of the size of the archives and their quantity, there should not be more than fifteen thousand hours of video, however, the crystals have a capacity for several hundred thousand hours and a visual memory of twelve thousand hours is not enough for a lifetime, which I suppose should not have been so brief as to have a little more than two standard Heracles years, even more so when it is a probe that was found more than thirty light years away from what is supposed to have been its world of origin.

-So what do you think that might be because of, Iriana?

-I think its video memories must have been removed at some point to make room for new records just as we do with our own probes before we can reuse them, -she explained -. It is possible that somewhere there is a repository of video records from the different probes, I suppose it should be on the planet.

The image of hundreds of spheres built with multifunctional modules, loaded with iron ore, nickel and aluminum, rising from the depths of the ocean of an unknown world, apparently unpopulated, with a dark amber sky, which gave away a probably toxic atmosphere, contrasted with others, of more friendly-looking planets, where also, hundreds of probes extracted minerals in huge volumes, and then presumably transported them to the sites where the monumental Dyson spheres were built like those found several tens of light-years away from the planet of the ancients.

In another video, a horde of thousands of probes could be seen in the distance, moving in what could be called gigantic flocks, moving synchronously through space, like huge technological clouds traveling in an unknown direction.

-This is fascinating, -commented Saul, enraptured by the images that, as if it were a film projection, the group of archaeologists had gathered to see, at the station, in orbit around the planet of the ancients. 

-There are several thousand hours of video, the records are supposed to be chronologically ordered, but we are not clear about the space of time between one video and another, there is a big difference between the images of successive videos, so there can be big gaps between them - explained engineer Reinosa, who was commissioned by Kon to present the new information coming from BN34 -. I found this video particularly interesting -he commented while starting the projection of another of the records

They could see how, at a distance, in what seemed to be the low orbit of some planet, in the midst of a grouping of a few dozen probes, several of them, seemed to disintegrate and change their shape as if they were a fluid floating in space, just before they began to enter the atmosphere, taking the aspect of a wedge, even more elongated and tapered than they normally were, diminishing their surface of contact with the atmosphere and entering the planet as if they were gigantic and sharp darts.
