What are you afraid of? What makes your heart beat so fast each time you think about it? Caty Medrano recently published an article called [Top 10 strong human fears](https://listverse.com/2011/09/30/top-10-strong-human-fears/) 


> Failure

> Death

> Rejection

> Ridicule

> Loneliness

> Misery

> Disappointment 

> Pain

> Unknown

> Loosing freedom


The bible has a lot to say about fear. The word afraid is found over 200 times in the bible, and the word fear is found 53 times in the book of Psalms. Hence, the word fear and related words occur over 330 times in the bible. 


What is fear? Fear is a heartfelt emotion, it begins with a thought. Fear is the mind's predication or expectation of unwanted negative event. Now, let's take these strong human fears one after the other.


 # Failure: 

I am not surprised this is topping the list. Failure is something we all experience. As a child, I was told by one of my uncles that I will never make it in life. According to him, I do not posses the ability to survive in this world. He called me a failure even at a very young age. Perhaps, you were told the same by those you love and now you're grown, you are convinced that you are. Sometimes, you might be physically successful in all your doings, but might think, you have failed spiritually as a christian. It is important to know that failure is not final or the end of your life. It does not matter how many times you have been told, or how many times you have convinced yourself how much of a failure you are, It still does not matter how many times you have failed as a person, but listen to this, failure does not mean your life is finished. it simply means life is a stage, where you learn from your mistakes. It does not mean you should give up, it means you need Christ to show you the next step. God will never fail, this means those He leads will also not fail.


# Death:

Sometimes, it is so horrifying to think about death. There's always this fear of losing those close to us. Sometimes, these thoughts consumes us and fill our heart with fear, but you are not alone in this. Even the man after God's own heart felt this way in Psalm 55:4. The bible  reminds us many times that death is not the final destination for the children of God. We have Christ Jesus who was sent to redeem man that whosoever believe in His name shall have eternal life. As believers, we need not to fear of dying because we already have life everlasting in Christ Jesus. 


# Rejection:

Rejection is tough at any age in life and can come from anywhere, but whichever form it takes, rejection is usually very painful. It makes think, you don't belong to this world and might give you some awful ideas, but the good news is, CHRIST accepts everyone the way they are. We are created in God's image and likeness, this means, we are beautifully and wonderfully made by God Himself who knows each of us by name even before we were born. Rejection has no root in the heart of believers.


# Ridicule:

Nothing seems more bitter than to be an object of ridicule. Sometimes, even as a christian, you are being mocked by those close to you. They call you all manner of names and it feels so awful, but you are not alone. The enemy knows this will definitely kill your inner spirit so he usese this as a weapon to make you stop preaching or following Christ, but what assurance do we have? In the presence of God, there is liberty and fullness of joy. God says, you are created to do exploits that is all that matters. You are the chosen generation. You are not rejected, but adopted into the family of Christ.


# Loneliness: 

Who wants to be alone in life? We are all scared of loneliness. You keep asking yourself "how do I face the world alone?" This is one of the greatest fear to hunt anyone which is normal. When you look at it from the human standpoint, it seems real and justified, but the question is, what is the word of God saying about this? We are given a second chance because God wants a personal relationship with each and every one of us. How can you feel lonely when you are created to communicate with God? The holy spirit is dwelling amongst us meaning we have a connection with God in Christ Jesus. And, when we take it seriously, it changes everything. 




# Misery:

Misery is a state or feeling of great physical or mental distress or discomfort. I want you to understand this, you are not alone. The truth is, most people are living in misery, but they are too scared to admit this. Jesus is always there to turn our darkness into light. He is always there to restore and give us hope. The bible says darkness and light has nothing in common. Every misery will surely make way once Jesus steps into that situation. 


# Disappointment:

Disappointments can be so painful. Sometimes, it can be so hard to trust again after you might experienced being disappointed especially from those you truly love and respect. Joseph was so angry at his brothers that he decided to pay them back for what they did to him, but one thing that is certain, those who put their trust in man will be disappointed, but those who trust in God will never be disappointed. The bible says "We should look unto Jesus who is the author and finisher of our faith" Jesus understands you better than any man. Just in case, you find yourself in this situation, tell it to God, He will comfort you.


# Pain:

In life, we experience either emotional or physical pain. No pain is alike and it's usually difficult to understand pain, but God understands every pain whether from the lost of a loved one, sickness or any other pain one can think of. They say "No one knows where the shoe pinches, but he who wears it" meaning nobody can fully understand another person's pain except for God. He knows your hurt and feels your pain. He has seen the crisis in your soul. There is no hurt that goes unnoticed by God. The good news is, God not only sees, He also cares. He understands because he made you and sees your heart. Do you ever wonder how mothers are able to say what is wrong with their kids even when the child cannot speak? There is a connection between you and God even when you do not speak, He knows what you are feeling. 


# Unknown:

Uncertainty. Not being sure of what the future holds so it's usually very difficult to describe what any one is feeling, but I ask again; what is God's plan for those who diligently seek Him? His plans are that of good and not of evil. In Him, there is assurance. Assurance, that we will make it in life how matter how dicey the situation is turning. In Christ Jesus, there is plan to bring us to an expected end.




# Loosing freedom:

Fear of commitment or fear of not being free.

Fear and worry are some of the greatest enemies we have to deal with in life. We worry about so many things. These are some of the ways in which fear attacks us. Fear is a great enemy of our soul/ As we begin to fear, then we allow in the spirit of torment. Fear can destroy anyone if not carefully handled. Here are some of the dangers of fear;


1 **Depression:**

 Most brings depression. 

> Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, But a good word makes it glad.

proverbs 12:25


2 **Ignorance:**

Most fear arises from lack of knowledge for the word of God. 

> My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being priest for me, Because you have forgotten the law of your God, I will also forget your children

Hosea 4:6


3 **Fear as a thief:**

The enemy uses fear to oppress the children of God in order to steal our happiness, joy, inheritance and our health.

> For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind

2 Timothy 1:7


4 **It kills:** 

As we allow fear to enter, we allow things that are not meant to be come to pass. As we tolerate fear and dwell upon it, the enemy sees it as an opportunity to attack us. 



We are not meant to live in fear, whenever the feeling try to overwhelm your spirit being, remember and consider the following;


1 You are not alone, God is with you - Deuteronomy 31:6


2 God is in control - Isaiah 41:10


3 Remember fear is false evidence appearing real


4 Hope in Christ Jesus


5 God has not given us a spirit of fear - 2 Timothy 1:7


6 God will come to your rescue - Isaiah 35:4


7 Do not worry about your life, Jesus got it covered - Luke 12:22-26


8 Courage is a choice  

 
9 You can do all things 

10 Take away negativity and be very positive about life
