What is Communism? Part One - The Worker Versus The Boss
### Communism is an economic system that was created in response to capitalism’s exploitation of the lower classes.

# People Do Not Deserve the Labor of Others

Communism is the system of destroying economic oppression. In this post we will have a recap of private vs personal property and the worker owner relationship.

### We Don't Want Your Toothbrush
The most common argument against communism is basically, that you wish to keep your personal items like your car/toothbrush/computer. You would keep it in a communist system, because we wish to socialize private property, not personal property.

Personal property is what you personally own and use. Your car, toothbrush and computer are all examples of this. The goal of communism is to end oppression, taking possessions you use is against the idea of communism. Private property is another matter. Private property is property one person owns but another works on. The tools you use in your daily work for a business, knives for chefs, farming equipment for farm hands, your work computer. and even the building itself. This creates a dependency of the worker on his boss. This will be explained below.

(<a href="https://pixabay.com/static/uploads/photo/2015/03/22/23/24/toothbrush-685326_960_720.jpg">source</a>)

### The Worker-Boss Relationship

The owner of the property allows workers to use it for a profit. What is so immoral about this? Many say this if fine because it is voluntary. The problem comes from a few places, the owner himself and society's view on the situation. The owner does not need to do work to earn money, if he does, the amount of effort is far less than that of an employee, if a boss makes 100 dollars an hour and an underling makes minimum wage at $7.25 an hour (In the United States), the boss would technically have to work almost 14 times harder according to his paycheck. This is essentially impossible if the worker is actually doing any work at all. Some say because the boss owns it, he earned it. The capital the owner uses to buy the private property usually comes from one of three places: he already had it, he borrowed it, or he worked for it. If he already had it, he is making money because he has money, in other words, he is doing no work but is getting capital. If he borrows it, the only reason he gets profit off the labor of others is he is able to move money around. You don't get resources out of nothing, they must always come from somebody. Some say that since he worked for the money to open the business he deserves the reward. The reward must come from somewhere, that somewhere is always the working class that he employs. This is a gray area in morals, just because somebody worked hard they get what another produced. Many people never get into the position of being able to take what others produce. That means many people live their lives with most of what they produce taken away through the capitalist system. This is hardly a way to run any society, this is exact relationship that communism’s main goal is to abolish.

https://pixabay.com/static/uploads/photo/2015/11/03/12/55/boss-1020727_960_720.png
(<a href="https://pixabay.com/static/uploads/photo/2015/11/03/12/55/boss-1020727_960_720.png">source</a>)

Another common argument at this point is that it is consensual. Everybody needs to eat, the only way to get food is to buy it or grow it (Charity can not be relied on). Buying it takes money and growing it requires land, which requires money. Money can only be gotten through a loan or labor. If it is a loan you must pay back more than your borrowed, meaning they take your labor. If you work for it the owner of the property takes a portion of your labor. Even though you can choose which person to work for, you must give it up to one person or another. This means that every option either ends in starvation, relying on charity, or getting a large portion of what you make taken away. In a <em>classical</em> anarchist sense the solution is to get rid of private property, the tool that separates the worker from the full results of his labor. In most businesses the worker makes the means of production, another worker labors on the means of production and another one upkeeps the means of production. The workers can keep a factory running on their own. The owners claim to make business deals and try to increase profitability. That is unnecessary labor and has no benefit to humanity outside a capitalist system.

### Anarchist Communism

Many people claim anarchist-communism to be an oxymoron. Usually bringing Soviet Russia/the USSR into the argument,<a href="https://steemit.com/politics/@anarchyhasnogods/soviet-russia-was-not-communist-part-one-labor-and-the-means-of-production"> I have debunked that here</a>.

Anarchy is the lack of unjustified hierarchy, I will go into detail on how that functions in communism in a later post. Simply put a workplace hierarchy would not be permitted. Each man would keep what he produces, or the equivalent. Nothing more, nothing less. Many theories and societies have risen out of this simple concept: Marxism, stalinism, trotskyism, maoism, the syndicalist movement, and many small time anarchist cities and revolutions.

Communism is a system for the people and by the people. It can not happen without the people collectively deciding it is what they want their society to achieve.

"For a successful revolution it is not enough that there is discontent. What is required is a profound and thorough conviction of the justice, necessity and importance of political and social rights." - <a href="http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/b/brambedk396402.html?src=t_revolution">B. R. Ambedkar</a>

Below is an open domain version of the communist manifesto. The communist manifesto was written by the Workers' Educational Association and was originally a 20 or so page German book. It is partly a critique of capitalism and partly a solution.

Below this is an awesome video I found. It's by The Onion but it explains the mindset well in my opinion.

Very interesting post, deserves more time to be read and fully digested.
Still I think there is no perfect system, and surely communism isn't the one.
I believe that individual change and small communities could be the solution, but every highly organized and nation-wide organism will become corrupt in the end, no matter what ideology supports

Crapitalism is a very nasty form of collectivism, it takes from those that work the hardest, and are likely the most honest, and gives to the criminals most willing to kill for it.
Just as the Bush/Clinton crime families.

This is interesting, although "anarchy is the lack of hierarchy" is not quite correct. I would rather say that anarchy is lack of coercive hierarchies. Hierarchies do exist and will not cease to exist - if I want to learn about black holes, I'll ask Hawking, if I'm curious about chess I go to some chess master, etc. There is always some hierarchy, some are natural and voluntary, some are coercive in nature. The latter are present in capitalism and I see no reason why they would disappear in communism.
"Anarchist-communism" is not quite an oxymoron, it's just the two are words from different worlds. One means lack of coersion, the other is about specific social order. They are not mutually exclusive, but putting them together slightly bends their meaning...

These are a few questions.
Your car could be seen as a means of production by someone who wants to start a taxi, Your computer could be seen as a means of production by someone who would do administrative work. The toothbrush of course not really. But there are many things that others have that I could take with the justification that I need them as means of production.
Where do I draw the line.

Wouldn't you run out of people that started companies? because after a few years of establishing the company it would be seized?
Isn't it and idea to start your own co-op from scratch through crowdfunding or just starting small and then grow it? I know that is happening here and there.

Could there be two, or more, systems that live side by side where everybody is free to choose in which system to live and according to the rules of that system?
That someone capitalistic that want to keep his means of production, which is seen by the workers as stealing would be excommunicated, to go and find a capitalistic community.
That someone living in a capitalist system seizing the means of production which is seen as stealing in the capitalistic system would be excommunicated to go and find a communistic commune.
That every commune has it's own set of rules.
I know this sound simplistic but I think, having a choice is really important.

"wouldn't you run out of people that started companies?" What? That's the point? We seize them and then provide for humanity?
Socialism and mutualism could live beside communism, capitalism is forced to grow or stagnate, that would destroy the balance immediately.

You do work on your computer, not the administrator. If it is your personal computer it is personal property.

Thank you for your answer, I'm just trying to communicate here.
What the underlying question is by this question "wouldn't you run out of people that started companies"
Wouldn't innovation stop? (This may seem like a dumb question to you but I see a large problem with stagnation)

//capitalism is forced to grow or stagnate// I don't see how trading with my neigbours is forced grow or would stagnate. I don't see anything wrong with it. And certainly not in communities.

I don't really get your last answer in combination with my question.
I explain; If i don't work on my personal computer but it's for entertainment/pleasure and someone else could use it to do work with it. Is him doing work with it, not a justification for him to seize it, since he is using it for live sustaining purpesses for him self or the common good, and I only for pleasure.

(This is the best way I can ask the question because of my English is not always sufficient enough to find the right expressions, to make the questions short and succinct)

My issue with this post is that you accept the definition as usurped by Marx, a tool of the crapitalusts, from it's coiner, as clearly stated by this link, http://www.emersonkent.com/history_dictionary/communism.htm, Marx's definition was an off shoot of the word, and not the word it's self.
As such he can shape it on his own opinion, but he cannot be used to define the word.
This link contrasts Bakunin and Marx.
Bakunin was, of course, wiped from the curriculum as undesirable in a crapitalust world, https://www.marxists.org/reference/archive/bakunin/bio/robertson-ann.htm
You are doing great, I hope you can continue.

Again the 6 post deep warning, so I'll put it here. ( it's not really as short as I hoped it would be :)

To make it clear
We are talking about a distant dreamworld (in time) here where everything is how you want it to be.

//No, the functions of gov't are done by the folks that need that work done, or not at all.
Vigilante neighbors tend to pacify neighborhoods, so need for cops.
Everything is free, so no need for social workers.
Accounting is done for reorders and by robots, so no accountants or cashiers.//

Ok fine maybe that will be the future could be.

//The honor system and reputation will keep most people in line, and criminals will suffer at the hands of their victim's friends.//

Here it's really important what the deffenition of criminal is. (a criminal according to law's or according to the NAP) I'll get back to you later by the illegal part of your story.

//Yes, I know, that can get out of hand, but is what we have now where the killing is done with impunity by cops better? //

I would answer no, if I imagine your world but i'd have to know more. I can not predict the future.

//You can do as you please, if you want to trade your widget for somebody's gadget and that is agreeable to both, then feel free.//

I don't care about gadgets and widgets. But if other people want to have them fine. You are painting me as some kind of immoral greedy human being which I'm not. It's just about principal for me.

//But, if you feel like starving kids in Africa and bombing kids in Syria because your bottom line needs enhancing from last year, that is an issue to be addressed by the locals in the local customary manner.//

This is the same as the above. I'm not the human you paint in this picture. I am an anarchist because I always had the question; why is there war and poverty?

//Towns of like minded individuals will spring up and you will not want to associate with some of those, and they will be free from your disdain.//

Again I have no disdain for towns or people whatsoever the opposite is true. I could live in such a town since I do not choose to sell whats mine for money, since I do not choose to use the drugs that I have the free choice of putting the in my body and I don't choose to waste the fruits of my labor because I choose it's not a smart thing to do. So I could be perfectly adjusted living in such a town.
With one but.

//Prostitution is illegal, it won't be.
Drug dens are illegal, they won't be.
Gambling halls are illegal, they won't be.//

Here I get back to you about the criminal part, and the one but.
There is no such thing as legal or illegal, who decide's. This is how the authoritairian thing starts.
Example; prostitution is illegal. (and I am just talking about principal here)

Who are you me, or anybody in the world for that matter to decide, for someone that want to voluntarily sell his or her body for money and the other person is voluntarily participating.
Who am I, you or anybody to violently stop the transaction of two consenting human beings, taking place, And the big question is who gave me you or anybody the right or the legal permission to call things legal or illegal. And force people to not do things I or you declare illegal.

There is no such thing as legal or illegal, or rights or obligation's. Where did the mortals that give people rights an obligation get the right to do that...god?
Where do mortals who declare things to be legal or illegal get the legalety to do that….god?
Of course some will say that god gave them that right (kings...apointed by god, christian refer to their god and it's commands, muslims ..the same….. , democracy has the majority god what the majority things is legal is legal. The communist have a similar idea “the collective” with it's “common good” but what is good for all is written down by humans and only humans. These are all collectivist systems where there are laws written by a few mortals that say they can speak for concepts (god, the majority, the collective, or the earth) the are no humans who can speak for them or proof they know what is best for all, because they say so.
That has always been the cause of war's/democides big and small. Us being good, them being bad and violently forcing them to be good according to our laws, rules, god, ideas of legality and illegalety.

//But none of those will be in a neighborhood that won't tolerate them.
If that is not your scene instead of sending thugs to kill some people we will allow them to live over there in peace.//

Sending thugs...you mean cops…...I'm an anarchist why in the world would I send cops to people who harm no one but themselves. (that's when they don't steal aggres murder etc.) If the "cops" I hired did that I stop paying them hire others to stop them, or have to stop them myself because they would be agressing against peaceful people .

//We will freely disassociate ourselves from them, and they with us.//

That would be the good thing to do, if you would ask me.

//Most of the problems of the world can be solved by simply ending the elephant in the room, rule by force. //

Yes, ending the rule by force.

There has to be an “over there” for every ones enemies, That is what I mean. (and you are telling me you willing to let them have it but I feel a little disdain ;) but that doesn't matter as long as you don't force them
Live and let life, tolerate others that are repulsive to you but do not harm anybody, the people who live under different system will automaticly search for a freeer system or their idea thereof.

You live in the communistic community (or what you choose and praise your god, christians live in theirs with their god. Muslims with theirs. Cult member live somewhere and follow their god, the guru or cult leader. People who like a dictator to be their god can choose to live by their dictators rule. And non believers live with each other with no god, or they live somewhere and abide by the rules of that god. But what would be very nice, if I can dream for a while, would be that all the people in the world would be free to leave the town and not held prisoner or be murdered for having another beliefs system. That all people would know about the non aggression principal.

Follow the god's guru's priests, politicians, communistic leaders you all want but don't make me follow, I follow no one but my conscience, and I may need betterment but I will only get that through experience, not by someone telling me that is good, do that. I must figure out what I think is good or bad and act accordingly to recognize what is good or bad and adjust, no one else can replace my conscience…...ever It's my tool.

I think that prostitution drug use and gambling addictions like consumerism materialism will become worse if you make them “illegal”
cause you create an enemy where there is probably a victim or some kind of trauma. I think talking to them (or even ignoring them) would bring more to change their behavior that you find repulsive than making it illegal and punishing them. I believe that all the authoritarian punishing in their childhood (which continues in their adulthood by the state) might be the cause of their trauma and addiction.

I'll leave you with a link to a little movie the philosophy of freedom.
And with the remark that this is what I believe to be true, I live by that philosophy first. All else follows from that basic principle. Al my permaculture practices, sharing with neighbours (p2p), helping if they ask help, if I can give them the help they need, and try to learn them if that's possible how to help themselves, agorism. All things that would probably perfectly fit in a town you have in mind. But it all stand and falls for me with that basic principle. Which I call (for myself)the NAPP
Non Agression Personal Principle.

Woohoo!! You rock!
Here are two works that helped clue me in to possibilities in the absence of crapitalism:
