But if any provide not for his own, and specifically for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worst than an infidel (1 Timothy 5:8).

I have heard some people say, "I need somebody to give me responsibility, " what they're saying in essence is "I need someone to tell me what to do." But the truth is no body will give you responsibility; it's up to you to become responsible by yourself. You become responsible by looking out for a need and reaching out to meet that need. That in itself is a fundamental principle of success.

As an individual, learn to take up responsibilities. There are folks who complain about situations they could actually do something about, if only they were willing to take up such responsibility. Such folks for instance could come to a church on a Sunday morning and whine about how untidy the whole place is, asking why the seats are dirty, and so on.

A truly responsible person on the other hand, upon noticing the the place is untidy or the seats weren't cleaned would say, "This is an opportunity for me to help out," and then, he makes plans to come early the following week to help clean and tidy the place. That's taking responsibility.

Learn to be responsible at home, in church, at school and at work. Have the consciousness that if you don't do what ought to be done, no one might. Have the ability to respond when there is a need; that's it-response-ability!

Get to that point in your life where you look around, maybe in worship places, at home, in your office or in school and say, "I'm going to take responsibility for doing such and such." If you're a young person living with your parents, relatives, friends or guardian, make up your mind that your impact would be felt at home. If you can't be available to do some of the chores in that home, find another way to make your impact felt. 

Also if you're a parent, ensure you live up to your obligations to your kids. Apart from providing them the basic necessities they required, you are to ensure they're brought up and trained in the way of the Lord.

Learn to be responsible; responsible people are noble people. Learning to take up responsibility takes you off the sidewalk, and reveals the greatness and nobility in your character. Shalom!
