Since its first film, the First Blood franchise tried to be something different, to tell something more than action and with its first film we were able to see the psychological profile of a man damaged by the consequences of war, however this model was changed in its sequel, Rambo's PSTD was somewhat overlooked to show action with well accomplished choreographies and explosions that left no one indifferent, due to this, the substance and message that the first film tried to convey was lost, this third film didn´t try to repair the damage done and followed the course already established in the second part because it generated more money obviously.
This time, the film stops having the name of First Blood to be called entirely Rambo III, I suppose this is because of people familiarized the name of Rambo more than First Blood, this time the film is directed by Peter MacDonald and John Rambo is interpreted by Sylvester Stallone who as a fun fact this time co-wrote the script. The past can be something very torturous for some, especially if you are a PSTD patient, this time Rambo tries to get away from his past, however, it returns to him, it is as if the character of Rambo is condemned to live his future by risking himself in dangerous missions, in Rambo III we will be able to appreciate a Rambo who tries to maintain a calm life helping others but who by chance of fate, he needs to give himself up to war again once again. I mean, not gonna lie, I liked that and I wanted to the whole movie to be like that but sadly it wasn´t.
I have watched the three Rambo films so far and this is the one with the largest budget approaching to $63 millions and you can see that. Rambo III is the kind of movie that you can complain about everything except the action, not only it is well done for its time but sometimes it can be hilarious and exaggerated with a lot of explosions which makes it better, Rambo III is not shy about showing off its budget considering that the other films were more limited in that regard, however, I think this will be the only reason why I will remember Rambo III in the future, being honest is the only remarkable thing about it, the rest not so much.
Rambo III doesn´t pretend to be ambitious in any section, it aims to show you action scenes with a good budget, the story is far behind and that psychological profile that we had of Rambo's personality in the first film is quite lost, I won´t say that it´s an empty product lacking personality, however it doesn´t want to stand out, even so, is it fair to criticize this film so much for being this way? Not really, I mean, even with what I just said Rambo III is an entertaining movie and so recommended, you will be on the edge of the chair with each sequence, I can say that it is an enjoyable product but that it does not intend to go further.</div>
