This is where the expression 'Once in a blue moon...' come from, meaning that something does not happen that often.</p> <p>There are mountains and craters on the Moon and the tallest mountain is half the height of Mt Everest on Earth. Their is no atmosphere or wind or weather on the moon and because of that, the holes just stays there. If you leave a footprint there, a wind will not blow the sand and cover it up after a while.</p> <p>During the day the moon becomes very hot and at night it turns very cold.</p> <blockquote>The Moon is very hot during the day but very cold at night. The average surface temperature of the Moon is 107 degrees Celsius during the day and -153 degrees Celsius at night. </blockquote> <p>Because of the influence that the 'gravitational pull' from the Moon has on Earth, that it stays on the same path and orbits Earth, it influences high and low tide of the oceans.</p> <p>The Moon orbits Earth and the both orbit the Sun.
