Someone did a test on whaleshares for bots, out of 3k accounts there was 1 bot. To me, whaleshares might actually be real competition to steem. It's very easy to sign up, @stellabelle has a guide for signing up on wls on her blog, about a month and a half ago.

As far as weku, I wouldn't bother.

ive been posting some over there and the interaction seems to be much higher than here unfortunately...    I love steemit, i really do, i just see the competition to be a good thing... go sign up man!!    Did you happen to receive any whaleshares from me from my contest?

I looked at Weku, even got an account there, have done nothing with it, likely will not do anything with it, but then again it is a just incase place. 

Whaleshares, I got an account there also. That was an interesting thing to do. You have to get a bts wallet to get an account, but unlike a lot of sites, they had a very easy to follow tutorial on getting it and setting up an account. I do have I think two post over there so far. A lot of people from here are on both of those sites. I, like you, still enjoy steemit. But the more I read and see some of the stuff from @ned, I started to get worried that steemit front end was going to die off, (not the blockchain).

Steemit is after all only a front end experiment to the steem blockchain, and @ned is working on and has a team working on a new access point to steem blockchain, or so it seems. He is calling it *"Destiny"* and and has stated that he will be inviting people to join it, while still remaining CEO of both companies.  So you can see why some people are setting up *"Just-in-case"* accounts.

I have joined both of them Weku and Whaleshares, I see nothing wrong with them, sure with a lot of new sites showing up constantly it is to be expected some of them will be duds, but joining some of them and having them as alternatives is not a bad idea.

Now there are many sites and what will happen to them, time will tell!

Can't say definitely, but I will likely just stay with Steem due to lack of time. I will probably start off a whaleshares account, to connect the wls that I had due to existing whaleshares tokens.

For me, the most important thing is that Steem is listed on major trusted exchanges. This is critical, it is hard to achieve and ends up putting a real price on the token. Otherwise, you are not exposing the supposed token price to an organic market, so you can just say it is worth whatever you want...

I'm curious how the bot and spam situations will play out on other chains, if they have a price worth making bots for. At the moment, they remain relatively safe due to the lack of financial incentive.
