### Hello friends... ###

Have you ever felt overwhelmed by some problem or concern in your life? If your answer is affirmative, Believe me, **¡YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY PERSON TO WHOM IT HAPPENS!**. Even The Lord Jesus Christ felt anguish in his life as we can see in the Word of God.

Let's read for a moment***Mark 14: 32-42***. It is the well-known passage that bears the title ***"Jesus prays in Gethsemane"***.
> *"So they came to a place called Gethsemane, and said to his disciples, Sit here, while I pray. And he took Peter, James, and John with him, and he began to be sad and distressed. And he said to them: My soul is very sad, until death; stay here and watch. Leaving a little ahead, he prostrated himself on the ground, and prayed that if it were possible, that hour would pass from him. And he said: Abba, Father, all things are possible for you; put this cup away from me; but not what I want, but what you. He came later and found them sleeping; and said to Pedro; Simon, do you sleep? Have not you been able to watch one hour? Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. He went again and prayed, saying the same words. When he came back, he found them sleeping again, because their eyes were full of sleep; and they did not know what to answer him. He came the third time, and said to them, Sleep now, and rest. Enough, the hour has come; Behold, the Son of Man is delivered into the hands of sinners. Get up, come on; Behold, the one who gives me is coming."*

Here we see a key phrase: ***"My soul is very sad, until death"***. The evangelist Luke completes this picture telling us that *"being in agony, he prayed more intensely, and his sweat was like great drops of blood that fell to the ground"* **(Lk 22:44)**. Let us note, then, the intense emotional disturbance that the Lord Jesus felt before the perspective that was presented to him, and also his state of extreme pain and anguish.

These are one of the deepest and most mysterious passages of the Bible and therefore, I do not intend to give a theological study or explanation of what happens here, because I am not a theologian, much less a biblical scholar. However, there are two things that I have learned with this study and I want to share it with you:


## 1.-  Anxiety or worry may occur occasionally in our lives. ##

Life is full of circumstances and decisions that affect our emotions. Just as there are moments of happiness, there are moments of sadness and anguish, and no one is exempt from this. An example of this is what we saw in the biblical passages that we read earlier, where the Lord Jesus Christ was facing the crucial moment of his ministry, and in his anguish, he turned to the help of the Heavenly Father. With this I have learned that it is not about being "super human" or "super saints", immune to problems, but about understanding that these are normal things that we all occasionally go through; but before these circumstances, the first thing we must do, is the same thing that Jesus did: ***SEARCH FOR THE ADDRESS AND HELP OF GOD IN PRAYER***. When we know and understand the magnitude of the problem we are facing, we can feel anguish, but not despair, because we know that God is in control; So, let us go confidently before Heavenly Father and prepare ourselves in prayer to face any problem, and God will give us victory in his perfect will just as he did in the life of Jesus, our Lord. Gethsemane was the place where the Lord made the decision to go to the Cross, while at Calvary it was where he materialized.

## 2.- We should not isolate ourselves when we are distressed or worried. ##

Friendship is a value among human beings and is also one of God's most important gifts. The life of Jesus could not be different; we see throughout the gospels numerous examples of how the Lord valued the concept of friendship, to the point that he once told his disciples***"I will no longer call you servants, because the servant does not know what his lord does; but I have called you friends, because all the things that I heard from my Father, I have made known to you".*** ([Juan 15:15](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Juan+15%3A15&version=RVR1960)). 

Returning to the scene of Jesus in Gethsemane, we can see that although Jesus prayed alone, however on this occasion he wanted to feel the closeness of some of his disciples, so he chose three of them: Peter, James and John to accompany him to a certain distance, these friends then become witnesses of the terrible struggle that Jesus had on that night, but then, they would be witnesses of his resurrection. We are not going to judge here if the behavior of these friends that Jesus took to Gethsemane was correct or not, here the important thing to emphasize is the fact that Jesus, although he knew that he was going to be alone at the time of the sacrifice on the cross, that night he wanted to feel the support of his closest friends ...***"Then Jesus said to them: My soul is very sad, until death; stay here, and watch with me."*** ([Matthew 26:38](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Mateo+26%3A36-46%2CMarcos+14%3A32-42&version=RVR1960)).

### <center>Let us not isolate ourselves in moments of anguish or worry, let's seek the support of our closest friends, our brothers in the faith and of our relatives, because they are a fundamental pillar in our emotional life.</center> ###
