"The poet" - Popular character.

Greetings Steemians is a pleasure to have you for this blog again. Today I am inspired to talk **with** a character from **[Guayana City](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bol%C3%ADvar_(state))**
popularly called "The Poet" emblematic and controversial, seen rare by some and praised by others. No doubt someone who by his peculiar appearance, his clothing and his way of speaking made me feel the need to portray him in his task.

Come with me to know a little about the life of this incredible artistic man.

His real name is Miguel David Martinez **born** in the city of **[Caracas](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bol%C3%ADvar_(state))** on May 23, 1957, tells us that from a very young age he was related to painting and in some occasions he attended theater plays.

#
Hey, Poet!

"I'm not a poet, I write poetry but I do not live from that, I do not write books, I'm a Playwright and I've written some works, that's what I answer to people when they ask me if I'm a poet, they probably gave me that pseudonym because naturally to call others I say poet.

https://preview.ibb.co/ktHjhH/DSC0009.jpg

Finishing carving spear

#
Beginnings in the theater

"The Poet" studied at the functional theater school Gonzalez J Camacho located in Caobos Caracas. and graduated in 1986.

He currently lives in Ciudad Guayana and conducts training workshops in vacation plans and high schools in agreement with the [SIDOR ART ROOM](http://www.sidor.com/cultural/sala-de-arte) where he teaches how to make spears and swords for the assembly of different works by César Rengifo

#
Crafts with palm.

In Venezuela most of the cultores in the different disciplines have always seen the need to innovate with little money. So it is not surprising that in some moments of artistic creation resort to unconventional materials for the making of theatrical props.

I met him 7 years ago in Upata, my foster village. Talk. **in the **previous post about the group of puppets** [Jau jau](https://steemit.com/spanish/@arrozymangophoto/grupo-de-titeres-jau-jau-42-anos)**.

The poet was in the Bolívar Place. There he presented an itinerant work titled "Bolívar ecological ", a version of our greatest independence hero where he expresses his love for nature by connecting with our ancestral roots in that cult of Pacha mama. David remembered that the next day he appeared in the same square for the commemoration of the birth of Hero of Independence Manuel Piar whose name is borne by the Municipality where Upata is, it was the time of the act and had no sword.

https://preview.ibb.co/hG6kNH/DSC0013.jpg

Spear finished

"I did not know what to do, I suddenly approached a Colonel of the Armed Forces and asked him for his sword, explained that it would be used in a work based on Bolívar and that when he finished he would hand it over to what he responded very kindly that it would not be possible for being a military sword delivered under oath, to be personal and non-transferable. It was a huge failure in the production that made me rethink what to do with that important prop object to represent the father of the country. "

He continues counting that the days he set out to look for a sword for the character and solve often technical problem. On the afternoon of the same day while resting in the cool courtyard of a friend's house he saw a bush **that** by name carries **[Cocuiza](http://vereda.ula.ve/jardin_botanico/areas-tematicas/jardin-xerofitico/cocui-cocuiza/)**is shaped like a sword but with thorns. without thinking twice "The poet" took his knife and cut a penca which in a few minutes after carving managed to give the desired shape and since then that sword accompanies him in his play about Simón Bolívar.

https://preview.ibb.co/io6oRc/DSC0026.jpg

 Portrait

"Not only have I mounted works on Simón Bolívar, I have also mounted works by our playwright Cesar Rengifo, Apacuana, for example, which deals with the struggle of the Aborigines against the Spanish settlers, for that work I had the idea of making all the props with crafts where the material main would be the palm or rather the palms"

In situ David has worked with more than 8 different palms. It is amazing the study and detail of the nature that I develop due to a small technical error.

Among the most used palms for making theatrical elements are:

Coconut palm
African palm
Palm of Chaguarama
Royal Palm

#
"Armando Reverón"

Another of the characters that has attracted a lot of attention from passers-by is the one that he embodies as the
**painter** of Venezuelan painters**[Armando Reverón](https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armando_Rever%C3%B3n/)**
"I have been representing our painter Armando Reverón for 3 years since the national government made the decision to take the remains of this great man to the national Pantheon, in commemoration of the 125th anniversary of his birth."

Miguel donated a few months ago the color palette (the first one he made for the assembly) to the museum of contemporary art Armando Reverón this as a tribute and it will be the main piece of an exhibition of several artists in the framework of the month celebration of the artist that will be made in the month of May

The palette has 3 fundamental colors that correspond to the pictorial periods of the painter.

https://preview.ibb.co/dpzxKx/DSC0014.jpg

Color palette used in Armando Reverón

The string corresponds to the Ocher period (anecdote: in this period the artist came to paint with faecal stools, eating foods with different pigments in order to reach tones that ranged from yellow to magenta)

The blue period represented with the same color

The white his last study on the light (anecdote: in this period he stayed at least a week in a room with no light with his eyes closed and sometimes bandaged.) Once the week was over, he would run outside in the morning or afternoon and so be able to paint under the visual effects caused by the lack of light.)

If you visit Guayana you will surely find "El poeta" especially in the Alta vista area.

The poet is one of the many characters that give life to the city seized almost always by zombie consuming armies. so I conclude this photo report of this great man.

English is not my mother tongue, so I apologize for any mistakes or nonsense that you can find.

I hope you have liked this post.

This is interesting and a very good read.
"*It is amazing the study and detail of the nature that I develop due to a small technical error.*" Very good moral point, the" failure"turned into greatness.
