Making Acquaintances

Well hello! I'm a 36 year old professional artist living in the Asheville NC area. I love mountains...I have lived in the Rockies and the Appalachians..they have such a pull on my soul. The first time I saw The Flatirons in Boulder Colorado literally took my breath away for a moment. That was in 2002. Now the beauty of the Appalachians enchants me in a more subtle way. Its probably the trees that sort of muffle the effect that a giant bare rock oddly holds over me. I love to create and share my work with others. I'm really interested in how people who perceive themselves as non-artists interact with artwork in public and in galleries. I mostly paint...often figurative works and sometimes abstracts. I have a slight obsession with the hero's journey story and that shows up in my work at times. This painting is called "Beyond the Veil" and is going to be in a museum show soon. I'm also a mother to an almost 7 year old girl who is becoming so independent lately. She says she wants to be a fashion designer. We were lucky to be near the path of totality for the eclipse yesterday! I will never forget that image and quality of light during totality. I wish I could afford to travel the globe and chase total eclipses. it was incredible.
