Actually this is my first entry in any of a story writing contest, which makes this my first story in steem, so please neglect the faults because, I am not so good in English too.

I didn't copied anything in the story, this is my original work. It came to my mind when I saw the contest post, So I decided to make a try.

Salzburg was a beautiful small village near Vienna. There were David Newman lived. He lost his father when he was eight, so mother raised him ever since. They both lived a good life in the village.

David was a boy of little courage. He always feared about everything around him. Friend laughing on him for being a coward was a regular thing in his boyhood.

Once, when he was in 5th standard, he were playing football with the friends. In the middle of the game he accidentally fell down and right leg got wound with blood oozing out. Immediately friends took him to his house and mother patched him very well. 
He was weeping with pain at that night. At that time mother came near to him with a small bottle."what is in it mom?" David asked.

"I want to show you a very precious gift from my great grand father. This bottle contains a secret magic potion. Drinking it once in a month will give us good strength, courage and brings great fortune for the future. But if we misuse it, the power of potion will disappear". David got very much excited.

Then mother took a glass of tea and opened the bottle. Took a few drops from bottle to the tea and mixed very well. "Drink it my son" mother asked him.

David slept after drinking the tea mother gave.

Early morning David woke up a little more enthusiastic. His wound were almost healed. "I got power, I am very courageous now. I can do anything in this world"- David told himself.
From that day onwards David changed a lot. He became more courage. He participated in every contests in school. In many of them he got prices. He started arguing with his seniors, some them ended in fights too. But he didn't stop. He became very famous in whole school life. Girls  wanted him as their boyfriend. After school he got graduation, a good job, a great wife and he became father of two beautiful children. Everything around him changed so much from the day he got wounds in leg except one. The drinking of his potion of fortune continued.

His mother is 70 years old now. She is so tired and in her last days now. On a Wednesday evening she had her last breath. David and family were being into great sorrow.

After some days David entered his mother's room to took the potion. He searched everywhere for the bottle. At last he found it in an old box of his mother. Took the bottle out he trembled. The bottle was empty but a paper in it.

"Oh my goodness, what will I do now?". The deeply burried coward in his heart woke up a little. Then he took the paper out. It was a note from his mother.

"*Dear son, there is no such things greater than pure love in this world. The potion I gave you was nothing but normal water, but with my LOVE. The only thing made you strong was the faith in my love for you. God bless you my child, 
wth lots of love
 your Mom*"

His eyes filled with tears.

Salzburgo era un hermoso pueblo cerca de Viena. Allí vivió David Newman. Perdió a su padre cuando tenía ocho años, por lo que su madre lo crió desde entonces. Ambos vivieron una buena vida en el pueblo.

David era un niño de poco valor. Siempre temió por todo lo que le rodeaba. Amigo reírse de él por ser un cobarde era algo habitual en su niñez.

Una vez, cuando estaba en quinto nivel, estaba jugando al fútbol con los amigos. En medio del juego, se cayó accidentalmente y la pierna derecha se lastimó con sangre que brotaba.Inmediatamente los amigos lo llevaron a su casa y mamá lo reparó muy bien.
Esa noche lloró de dolor. En ese momento mamá se le acercó con un biberón "¿qué hay en él mamá?" Preguntó David.

"Quiero mostrarte un regalo muy precioso de mi bisabuelo. Esta botella contiene una poción mágica secreta. Beberla una vez al mes nos dará mucha fuerza, coraje y una gran fortuna para el futuro. Pero si la usamos mal, el poder de la poción desaparecerá ". David se emocionó mucho.

Entonces mamá tomó un vaso de té y abrió la botella. Tomó unas gotas de la botella en el té y se mezcló muy bien. "Bebe mi hijo" le preguntó la madre. David se durmió después de beber el té que le dio la madre.

David se despertó temprano en la mañana con un poco más de entusiasmo. Su herida estaba casi curada. "Tengo poder, soy muy valiente ahora. Puedo hacer cualquier cosa en este mundo", se dijo David.A partir de ese día, David cambió mucho. Se volvió más valiente. Participó en todos los concursos de la escuela. En muchos de ellos consiguió precios. Comenzó a discutir con sus mayores, algunos terminaron en peleas también. Pero no se detuvo.
Se hizo muy famoso en toda la vida escolar. Las chicas lo querían como novio. Después de la escuela obtuvo su graduación, un buen trabajo, una gran esposa y se convirtió en padre de dos hermosos hijos. Todo a su alrededor cambió mucho desde el día en que tuvo heridas en la pierna excepto una. Continuó bebiendo su poción de la fortuna.

Su madre tiene ahora 70 años. Ella está tan cansada y en sus últimos días ahora. Un miércoles por la noche tuvo su último aliento. David y su familia estaban sufriendo mucho.

Después de unos días, David entró en la habitación de su madre para tomar la poción. Buscó la botella por todas partes. Por fin lo encontró en una vieja caja de su madre. Sacó la botella y tembló. La botella estaba vacía, pero tenía un papel.

"Oh Dios mío, ¿qué voy a hacer ahora?". El cobarde profundamente enterrado en su corazón se despertó un poco. Luego sacó el papel. Era una nota de su madre.

"* Querido hijo, no hay cosas más grandes que el amor puro en este mundo. La poción que te di no era más que agua normal, pero con mi AMOR. Lo único que te hizo fuerte fue la fe en mi amor por ti. Dios bendito mi hijo con mucho amor tu mamá*" 
Sus ojos se llenaron de lágrimas.
