Teacher Communication Pattern in Down Syndrome Children's Learning Process .

Communication is the most important activity of human life. Every human always needs communication. According to Rogers & O. Lawrence Kincaid, *In the presence of human communication can form or perform the exchange of information with each other that will eventually arrive mutually understanding* (Cangara, 2004: 19). Human relationships are created through communication, both verbal and non verbal communication. For that communication is a things that can not be separated from humans. Humans are social beings who can not live without people other. So that in social activities need a communication to be able building good relationships with one another.

Social activities that need communication is teaching and learning activities. In the process of teaching and learning activities, it is necessary teacher communication. Where this teacher communication is communication teacher and student in teaching and learning activities with face to face both verbally and non verbally individually or in groups. With the communication between teachers and students can build a good relationship and can help the course of teaching and learning process. A communication pattern that can be used for develop interaction between teacher and student in learning process that is, first, communication as action (one-way communication), where this communication teachers act as actors and passive students. Second, communication as interaction (two-way communication) which means that teachers and students can play the same role namely the giver of action and the recipient of the action. And third, communications as a transaction (multi-way communication), or communication that involves not only interactions which is dynamic between students and students. So with the teaching and learning process with this communication pattern leads to a learning process develop optimal student activities, thereby fostering students active learning (Nana Sudjana, 1989: 146).

*Communication patterns are defined as forms or relationship patterns of two or more persons in the process of sending or receiving in a proper way so that the intended message can be understood* (Djamarah 2004: 1). Above communication patterns are indispensable for an inner teacher build communication as well as good interaction with students in the process learn. So also for teachers who teach or educate children who experiencing physical and mental retardation. Because not everyone in the world this has a normal physical and mental, so in education is also not all schools or foundations have only normal children. Children with special needs are children with characteristic khusuh different from children in general. Children with special needs are theirs which are physically, psychologically, cognitively, or socially obstructed in achieving goals or needs and their potential to the fullest. Which include into children with special needs, among others: blind people or individuals who have obstacles in sight, waiting or having individuals obstacles in hearing either permanent or non permanent, quadriplegic or individuals who have impaired motion, ie individual tunalaras experiencing barriers in controlling emotions and social control, and tunagrahita are individuals who have significant intelligence to be below average and accompanied by incapacity in the course of development. Down syndrome child is very different with other children with special needs. Because, the child down syndrome is children who are mentally and physically retarded while the baby is still present in the womb. They experience slow problems in all aspects of development ie, slow to walk, subtle and authoritarian developments speak or speak. Patients with Down syndrome have an attitude or behavior spontaneous, friendly, cheerful, patient and tolerant attitude. But sometimes they will show naughty behavior with high curiosity. The main features of the child's down syndrome are they have difficulty inside communicate and interact with others. This is where communication patterns teachers should be able to adapt to condition of the person. The communication pattern he did with people with Down syndrome of course use appropriate language in order they are able to understand what a person is saying. In accordance with the language function is a communication tool one uses for relating to others. this issue interested me in raising a title about teacher communication pattern in down syndrome children's learning process .
