>If my posts of complaint make people aware that this is happening and something gets sorted out about it, would you say those posts served the community or not?

What is it that needs to be "sorted out?" One stakeholder decided to upvote your posts. Another stakeholder decided to downvote your posts. That's how the system works. With both votes applied, you're still coming out pretty far ahead.

>If this comes to an amicable conclusion and people realise the flagging wars are doing nothing to help promote this platform in any kind of positive way, would you say that would be deemed as a success?

What need is there for an "amicable conclusion?" It's two investors using their stake as they see fit. One wants to allocate rewards, the other wants to limit the allocation. There is nothing that is *not* amicable about this. It doesn't factor into it at all, actually.

And this isn't a "flagging war." This is how the platform was always meant to be used. I think the idea that downvotes are something to fear and are inherently unfair is what does more damage than stakeholders actually using those downvotes. Writing post after post about it - as has been happening since last year on this platform - simply perpetuates the false notion that downvotes are inherently wrong and are somehow ruining the platform. They aren't. They're a necessary function for the designed system to work properly.

>By the way, do you have any reason why I shouldn't be in the top 100 in posting rewards? Or the top earners for the past 30 days?

Nope. And my opinion on your writing or your rankings have nothing to do with it. I was simply pointing out that you're not being victimized by one user who happens to disagree with some of your rewards...unless, of course, the rest of the platform is also being victimized by one user allocating those rewards to your posts in the first place.

> It's two investors using their stake as they see fit. One wants to allocate rewards, the other wants to limit the allocation.

Yes, of course... that's *exactly* what it's all about *nod* *wink*.

I don't think I'm being victimised.

It was absolutely nothing against *me* whatsoever.

I do believe that this kind of thing is what will prevent more quality writers from joining this platform and *that* is what needs to be addressed and sorted out.

Can you see the likes of Stephen King, JK Rowling or Stephen Hawking joining Steemit when all this is going on?

Therefore, their followers won't be - well... *following* them here. Is that *good* for the platform?

The potential for earning is the biggest draw - it's what got me here - but there would need to be a bigger payout to balance the risk of getting flagged when you've done nothing more wrong than attracted a reasonable payout in exchange for a good post - a payout I neither expect nor demand, by the way.

I'm not sure I made it clear what my objection on the flag was. I interpret it different to others on the platform, that's clear.

To me it's disapproval - whether that's because they don't like my writing or the payout, or even if they don't like *me* that's irrelevant, but disapproval that my work isn't worth what someone else believes it is came as a jolt - to me.

If you enjoyed my writing, if I gave you a few minutes chill-out time in which you read my stories (or part, thereof) then who decides what value is placed on it?

Like I said, this needs sorting out and until it is, I honestly don't see any big hitters coming to this platform for anything more than fleeting curiosity.

Not at all. I do think Steemit will make it. It's making it right now.

I also think it could not just *make* it though.

For this site to attract such big hitters as the names I mentioned, it has to lose this drama and perception of bullying.

I honestly cannot envisage anyone with that kind of clout arriving on this site as a minnow and putting themselves through this, and to start on the platform higher up costs a serious amount of fiat cash.

There's the conundrum.

The only way the price of steem is going to rise is if there are new investors but the new investors will take a look at the flaws in this system and think *Nah! Too much drama, too much hassle* and go buy bitcoin instead.

The newcomers are joining with nothing and investing their time and their talent - that's what I did.

The problem is, if they don't start making thousands per post, they either get discouraged and leave or start gaming the system in some way. Very few stick it out, earning nothing and building slowly.

Then, when something like this happens - someone that has a wide audience speaks out and gets flagged into oblivion by whales that took no notice before, all hell breaks loose and whales start hiding the voice that had the temerity, the *inmitigated **GALL!*** to look behind the curtain and challenge the system.

(Sorry, channelling my inner Grinch there...)

Yeah, I kicked a bit of dust in their pool-side cocktails and upset a few people.

***Why*** though? Why did one minor Steemit author get such a reaction?

People have responded to my posts that have never even seen my posts before.

Witnesses and Whales have come to *my* blogs to make their voices heard and give their opinion on my writing yet they never have before.

You know what they say?

Any attention is *good* attention, right?

Or put it another way, I've finally written something to make people take notice.
