Beer Ale | List of Ale Beer | Brief History of Ale | Beersaturday | What's your Flavor?
# Ale is a traditional term for a fermented beverage made mainly from malted barley. Ale is located in the UK and "Ale" is synonymous with beer.

### They are fermented with top fermenting yeasts at temperatures of 15 to 25 ° C. Fermentation is carried out at higher temperatures than for lager beer.

### Before the 15th century, the term "ale" used to refer to uncooked beers only. In contrast, the term "beer" was used to designate drinks made with the addition of hops. In the meantime, the Ale brewers began to use hops. However, the Ale and the Beer breweries remained separate professions until the 18th century. This distinction is no longer the case, and with the exception of Porter and Stout, all native Abby varieties are designated as ale in Great Britain. In the USA, on the other hand, it is customary to designate all the top-fermented beers as indifference as ale, Eg from "Kölsch-Style Ale".

## There are numerous types of ales in the UK, such as:

### Mild ale, a full, sweetish beer, mostly of dark color with relatively little hops and alcohol

### Pale ale, light to copper and with a more pronounced hop aroma, also called bitter

### India Pale Ale (IPA), usually a slightly thicker and astringent ale, but some breweries use the name also for a light pale ale

## Ale's brewing started in colonial times from England and has thus established itself in the USA and Australia. Today these countries have independent traditions of the Ale brewery. Specialties of the USA are, Such as the American IPA and the Double IPA. In Australia, Sparkling ale is brewed, which, according to its name, is hoarse.

## Also in Belgium are brewed among other beer varieties Ales. There has been a lively exchange between Belgium and England in the past, so some of the Belgian beers show signs of an English influence. Real ale, also called Cask ale or Cask-conditioned ale, describes beer produced and distributed according to certain rules (as defined by CAMRA). In Scandinavia and in the Baltic, the old German word äl is in Danish. Where all kinds of beer (also the popular lower-fermented Pilsner and Lagerbiere) are designated.

There's nothing like a good, strong IPA.

I don't think I've ever tried a "heather ale" unless Innis and Gunn happens to fit that category.

I've only just recently started exploring the different tastes in the world of beer. About four years ago, I worked part time at a liquor store and it changed my world.

Unfortunately, I now live in China and there isn't as big of a selection here. Still a lot of German beers though and Delirium is usually easy to find.

What's your fave?

Thanks for your comment. I'm still exploring the beer world, too. I enjoy Molson Export ale.

Here is a little history on Heather ale.

Introduction
Heather Ale, believed to have been drunk since around 2000 BC and reputed to be one of the oldest styles of ales in the world, is beginning to enjoy a renewed interest since the re-introduction of the long forgotten style and art of making the brew a few years ago. Made from the flowering tips of wild purple heather, boiled with Scottish malts and wild myrtle leaves in order to extract the flavour and nectar, it has been described as being "Full and of Firm character with a Floral, Peaty Fruity aroma with a dry Wine-like taste."

Interesting. I'd like to try it. The only beer out of Scotland that I've tried is "Innis and Gunn". It's an oak aged beer and it's delicious. I just found their website too and it also has an interesting history of beer and their company:
