 How much do we really need and does holding out for a higher price really mean that much if you can gain your freedom right now? Would you ever cash out of Steemit and cryptos if you made enough to live well for at least ten years? Would you still use steemit if you had a low balance and did not get much of a reward from your posts? I think steemit is a good platform even without rewards and steem power.

Very interesting questions. The first question is the easiest one: If debt free includes mortgage free I would do it. Not paying mortgages, owning my flat would be huge advantage and would give me an incredible freedom. The 2nd question is more difficult. I have one of those small accounts and right now I don't see that account going anywhere. But I am still using it. Steemit is not very friendly when it comes to new accounts. I know a few accounts from other platforms who joined with me and I noticed most of then have dropped out again. The account which introduced me to Steemit is powering down. The cryptocurrency aspect of Steemit has become worthless for new accounts. Steemits biggest advantage more or less gone. In addition to Steemit I use [Google+](https://plus.google.com/+MartinKrischik), [Minds](https://www.minds.com/krischik) and [GAB](https://gab.ai/krischik). And while technically Steemit is the best it's not when comes to engagement the. And engagement is the most important part of a social media platform. I will continue to use Steemit for a little while longer. See how it goes. But if there is no improvement – then – well – Minds is adding cryptocurrency to there site. Just saying.

Debt free would include paying off your house and I agree have no mortgage is a major advantage. I agree with you with regards to engagement in some regards. You have to really hustle and make tons of comments before your account is big enough for people to care. I think once the communities feature happens engagement should spike since people will find the groups they love most and its easy to engage with like minded others.

communities feature — that sounds good. And I do a lot of commenting. Probably the reason I am still here and some of the others are gone. That was indeed one of the things I noted about the accounts abandoned: Pure content provider / YouTuber who never commented on other peoples postings. And rarely upvoted anything.

No I wouldn't. Because your debt gets smaller and smaller through inflation. And the money is better invested somewhere else rather than to pay off the debt as long as it is manageable
