Yes, neither the spring nor the lake are its parents. True, I would rather call a waterfall the rains that fall from heaven. But that day was dry.

Да, ни родник, ни озеро не являются её родителем. Правда, я бы скорее назвал водопадом дожди, которые падают с небес. Но в тот день было сухо.

I will add two more to the first photo. This is a real waterfall on the same river. True, about a kilometer remained to the sea. And the mountains are over. From this waterfall begins the Armenian gorge of New Athos. Here the river flows smoothly. But it was precisely on this section during a period of rain that a stormy stream threw a cow onto a tree. So say the natives. From the place where we stayed for a stay, to this waterfall 5 minutes walk. It's cool in any heat. A trout is found in a green cauldron under a waterfall. The water here is just icy.

>К первому фото я добавлю ещё два. Вот это настоящий водопад на той самой реке. Правда до моря остался примерно километр. И горы кончились. С этого водопада начинается Армянское ущелье Нового Афона. Здесь река течёт ровно. Но именно на этом участке в период дождя бурный поток закинул корову на дерево. Так говорят аборигены. От места, где мы остановились на проживание, до этого водопада 5 минут пешего хода. В любую жару тут прохладно. В зелёном котле под водопадом водится форель. Вода здесь просто ледяная.

Мы продолжаем свой путь гораздо выше по течению реки. Тот водопад сравнительно полноводный. Здесь же тонкий ручеёк перетекает из одной лужи в другую. Иногда лужи получаются глубокими. В них можно искупаться. Но общего ручейка явно не хватает для струи нашего водопада. Видимо ниже по течению река пополняется другой рекой или из других источников.

We continue our journey much higher up the river. The waterfall in the Armenian Gorge is relatively deep. Here, a thin brook flows from one puddle to another. Sometimes puddles are deep. You can swim in them. But the general brook is clearly not enough for the stream of our waterfall. Apparently downstream the river is replenished with another river or from other sources.

Мой объектив (16-105) не всегда справлялся с жёсткими лучами солнца. Контраст между темнотой углов ущелья и яркостью освещённых солнцем участков был слишком велик. Почти все фотографии подверглись доработке в редакторе.

My lens (16-105) did not always cope with the hard rays of the sun. The contrast between the dark corners of the gorge and the brightness of the sunlit areas was too great. Almost all the photos have been finalized in the editor.

Общие виды ущелья меня поразили. Я практически забыл о съёмке крупным планов малых объектов. Но мимо этой лягушки пройти не мог. Здесь за каждым поворотом русла открывается что-то новое и интересное. Я не знаю, как мне хватило карты памяти.

So we have come. Yes, this is how the place where the river begins. These thin streams of water are proudly called a waterfall. Apparently in the rain the way it is. The narrow path of the water, which bends around the corner of the cliff, stretches for another 20 meters. This is a deep channel, in places I did not reach the bottom with my foot. I didn’t take the camera with me and therefore I can’t show what I saw. Here the water was icy, with both hands you could reach the walls at the same time. The height of the walls is huge. They converge at the top and a narrow strip of sky is visible among the rocks and greenery. The channel ends in a dead end. There is simply no further, around only sheer cliff walls. The channel bent and around the turn you can not see its beginning. Very strange feeling. But there is no fear. I could be there for a long time and admire this rare place, but they already started calling me back and I was quite cold.

>Вот мы и пришли. Да, вот так выглядит место начала реки. Эти тонкие струи воды гордо именуются водопадом. Видимо во время дождя так оно и есть. Узкая дорожка воды, которая изгибается за угол скалы, тянется ещё метров 20. Это глубокое русло, я местами не доставал дна ногой. Брать с собой камеру я не стал и поэтому не смогу показать того, что увидел. Здесь вода была ледяной, до стенок можно было одновременно дотянуться двумя руками. Высота стен огромна. Они сходятся вверху и видна узкая полоска неба среди скал и зелени. Русло заканчивается тупиком. Его дальше просто нет, вокруг только отвесные стены скал и за поворотом не видно выхода. Очень странное ощущение. Но страха нет. Я бы мог находится там долго и любоваться этим редким местом, но меня уже начали звать назад и я достаточно замёрз.

Последний взгляд на горы. Здесь практически не видно скал. Всё утопает в зелени.
В следующий раз скорее всего мы спустимся в знаменитые Афоские пещеры и пройдём через них. До скорой встречи.
