When they got back from their outing, Luke went for a long walk.  Despite everything that had happened, his problems were no less and he wished he could just walk away from it all - or fly away!  Eventually he headed home.  At the front door he bumped into Dr. Carter.  

*"Your mom is seriously ill,"* the doctor said.  

*"She had another relapse this morning," said his stepdad, looking tired and dejected.

*"She's not going to die, is she?"* Luke asked.

*"Well, she's all right for the time being and where there's life, there's hope,"* Dr. Carter said.  *"Look after her well.  If she has another relapse..."*

*"So you have recovered from this morning?"* Luke's stepdad asked.  For a moment Luke thought his stepdad knew what had happened but then he realized all he knew was that the whole class had been in danger.

*"Yes, thanks, Dad,"* Luke said.

On his way to his bedroom, Luke was intercepted by spiteful Bret.

*"If your mom dies, I won't be saddled with you anymore,"* he said and went down the stairs.  

Luke heard the front door slam.  He took a hamburger he'd bought from his pocket and took a bite.  It tasted like sawdust and decided to chuck it anyways.  He'd lost his appetite and Bret's comment didn't help either.

*I have an idea!*  It's time to teach Bret a lesson!

He went to Bret's room, opened the door and walked over to the wardrobe where he planned to hide the hamburger.  In a couple of days Bret would smell something rotting, but he'd never guess what it was!  But when Luke opened the wardrobe door, he was the one who got a surprise.  There was a white costume in it!  *Good grief! No - it couldn't be! Impossible!*

Bret was Powerman...

Luke stared at the costume in Bret's wardrobe.  He couldn't believe his eyes, but it made sense though, didn't it?  His stepbrother had been so aggressive lately...

Bret was the enemy planet's hero.  Luke remembered what Powerman had said while they were locked in combat: *"The school's just the beginning.  We're going to take over the whole town."*

The rulers of the enemy planet must have chosen Bret to do their dirty work, because no one would guess a man as powerful as Powerman was just a schoolboy!

With a pounding heart Luke closed the wardrobe door and left the room.  It was important that Bret did not suspect he knew the truth.
