In the event that this doesn't mean anything to you Darrell Brooks is the guy who drove his car through a parade in Wisconsin and killed a bunch of people and injured more.

Although it was many years ago, I went to high school with a guy that had the same name.  He is also right around the correct age as this guy.  

Long story short:  I don't actually know Darrell Brooks the killer but a lot of the pieces kind of matched.

The Darrell Brooks I knew in high school was a nice guy.  Times were different then I guess because racism wasn't really a thing in our high school despite being well above the national average as far as ethnicity in our school was concerned.  Darrell and I were friends and we hung out outside of school and were both involved in Drama productions. There was a competition that he and I performed in as a duo.  We didn't win but we felt like we did a good job.  

Fast forward about a decade and I found out that the Darrell I lived with was living in Milwaukee and I just happened to be going there for other reasons.  When I met Darrell he was a very different person than I knew in high school.  The years had made him bitter and resentful, he was covered in shitty tattoos and had dreads.  He didn't have a lot of nice things to say about white people and during our conversation I really felt like I was walking on eggshells because this was not the Darrell that I knew in high school and was friends with.  He was almost militant and I didn't enjoy the meetup.  It would never happen again.

During the time that we were talking I ended up following him on FB only to quickly unfriend him as almost all of what he put out there was anti-white racist crap.  I have not spoken to him in years.

When I heard the news about a Darrel Brooks ramming his car intentionally into a bunch of white people in Wisconsin I initially was certain it was the same Darrel that I knew from high school.  He matched a lot of the descriptions provided and his anti-white racist way of life certainly matched my old friend.  

Thankfully, the Darrell that is now in jail and is definitely going to at least spend the rest of his life in prison is not someone I know, but for a few days there I thought that maybe I went to high school with one of the most awful killers of recent times.  

Even if I did know the Darrell that is currently in jail I would still want him to rot in there.  I'm not sure if Wisconsin has the death penalty or not but I hope that they don't apply it to this guy.  That seems entirely too easy for him, he deserves to suffer in a prison for the next hopefully 50 years.  

I don't know what can possibly happen to a person to make them want to indiscriminately kill strangers.
