# Inner Peace

Everyone knows 
A dog needs affection

But I am content 
With no light

A cave on an island
A room with no chairs

Painted out windows
The color of air

So don’t throw me bones
To entice me

My hunger is pinched
Between finger and thumb

And water is gathered
From rivulets of rain

A flood plain of trials
Long behind me

Where night is a cover
A homeless man’s blanket

A comfort allowing
To see through the moon

Find a lame dog
Who craves human touch
