SURREALISM

Back when I was teaching art I had a box of old dolls that students would draw.  When I retired I left the dolls for the next teacher to use. The other day I was trying to decide what to draw and remembered the dolls. Once I found just the right photograph I began drawing.

As the drawing developed I wanted to incorporate the dot to dot lines I have been using in other images. I like how in this instance the lines represent not only the connections between people, but also the circuitry that makes each person unique.

I love dolls and their parts. I have a few random bits and bobs of old dolls dotted around my studio, I always found them fascinating and not ever 'creepy' as I am often told they are: Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, right?

Same with me, but when I was teaching other teachers coming into my room were often creeped out. We had dolls stuffed in boxes and dangling from clothes lines.

These babies are always scaring me. do they see how frightening they really are when they have to be cute?

Ahhh yeah you are so right. There was a clown on my third birthday. they could not keep me home. A horrible moment about the smallness!
