<p>Why must we teach our children to be friendly, appreciative people?&nbsp;</p>
<p>There is a saying that says, give someone power, and you will see his real personality.&nbsp;</p>
<p>This is so true, when children grow up they will start working and they might reach heights that we did not expect that they could.&nbsp;</p>
<p>If we do not teach that all people are equal and must be treated very well, they might falter in this position you they have reached. They may have studied hard and worked hard for where they are now, but if they think that the minute they reach a position of power, they have to change their personality.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Believe me then we as parents have failed. How would you feel if your child reaches a goal and then he is fired because he does not know how to treat the people working with him?&nbsp;</p>
<p>That would be a very sad day, and I have seen this so many times in my life. &nbsp;The minute someone become the boss of a company or a business he’s whole personality changes as he now thinks that he or she is more important than those working with them.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Watching my husband for the last 47 years, this is the one thing that I appreciate the most about him. He never changed. He was always kind and helpful to all the teachers who worked with him. He would never say under him, as they work with him and they all work together.&nbsp;</p>
<p>He stayed the same person I married yet he did reach all his goals in life, and I can assure you that I do not know of one person who ever worked with him who is not glad to see him.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Yet I know people in the same position, who changed so much and got so important to themselves that they lost most of their friends, and lost a lot of respect.&nbsp;</p>
<p>So that silly little saying that says give someone power, and the real personality will come to life. This is even a proverb in the bible. So mothers and fathers please teach your children that the better they do in school the nicer they should be to those who struggle as they need help, and maybe the clever child might just be able to help the struggling one.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Your child will get that wonderful feeling one gets when you help someone and you see that awesome smile because they understand something they never did before.&nbsp;</p>

<p>It is such a horrible feeling if you see someone cry, because they were bullied or shouted at. This is when the real goodness in you should come forward and fix the wrongs that were done to them.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Think of bullies, they are like that as they have problems. Don’t write them off, try and find out what is wrong with them and why are they enjoying bullying other children. Maybe you can even help this bully to see life in a different way and feel how good it feels to be good.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Some people have bosses who they are scared of and that is so wrong, as this is the person that should understand that all people have problems, some small others bigger ones.&nbsp;</p>
<p>If you are a horrible boss they will never trust you to ask for help. This is why I love the saying give a man power and see his real character come out.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Children can only learn good character it we teach them and we show them how we react as they always follow us and learn from us.&nbsp;</p>
<p>I once slipped up and said dammit stop making that noise to my son, and it took me months to explain that he cannot use that word, and I was wrong to say it.&nbsp;</p>

<p>It just shows you how quickly we can slip and plant a bad idea into their heads.&nbsp;</p>
<p>One of the steemit answers I got a while ago made an excellent impression on me, this lady said, her children do not know what punishment is they do know what responsibility is.&nbsp;</p>
<p>If they do something wrong, she says you know what your responsibilities are go and fix them. Like cleaning the kitchen or whatever they do wrong.&nbsp;</p>
<p>I think this is such a nice way of doing things.&nbsp;</p>

Indeed a great post for guidance and counseling. Reading your post makes me reflect if I myself make a good mother or example for my kids. Way back when I was single I use to think if someday I can be a good mother to my children or an example for good (and it scares me a lot_ what if I fail??) And now being a mother still scares me if I do things rightly for my kids though I was trying so hard to be one for them to grow and mold them into a better person (good for everybody).. @bigbear I really love your post and the way you stated it I'd love to copy paste it on my notes or make a journal.. great advice is inside and no regret being here in steemit 'coz everyday as I go to feeds I learn a lot.  Thank you so much for such a wonderful and useful post. Highly appreciated.

It is so good to find great people on Steemit who contribute meaningful information and content here. I am happy to have found your blog through that of @siddik1092. Your post highlighted such an important message and something that I have been talking a lot about on my blog. Teaching your children to be kind and appreciative is so important so they stay grounded and humble. You are right that many of us do change when we come in a power of position and that often exposes our true colors. However, that's not why the power was given to us. The power we are blessed with needs to be used the right way, to help others, to make their lives better not to make them miserable. I am trying my best to teach my son exactly that. Cheers~
