TEACH CHILDREN TO READ WITH UNDERSTANDING.

<p>Why is it so important to love and motivate children?&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
<p>We as grownups think that they should think like us, and do what we &nbsp;do as well as being hard working.&nbsp;</p>
<p>How can we expect a child to know all &nbsp;these things?&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
<p>It is as if babies are born big these days, not big in size but in &nbsp;knowledge.</p>
<p>&nbsp;I am sure that my grandchildren know so much more than my &nbsp;children did at that age.</p>

<p>&nbsp;Maybe it is because we let our children play more and saw little &nbsp;of them as they were outside. &nbsp;</p>
<p>We did not have television or cell phones &nbsp;in those days.&nbsp;</p>
<p>They use to have animals to play with as well games they &nbsp;always played outside.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Today we can say maybe they were slower than children are &nbsp;today, but believe me when the time came, with television, computers, &nbsp;and cell phones they did catch up fast.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
<p>The problem came that we as older people did not catch up so quickly or at all.&nbsp;</p>
<p>I know a lot of older people who do not even know how to &nbsp;switch on a computer.&nbsp;</p>
<p>So who was better off?&nbsp;</p>

<p>The children born with all these gadgets at their fingertips, &nbsp;or our children that had to learn later in life.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Here I think you have a &nbsp;right to your own opinion, I personally think my children stayed children longer than most of them do today.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
<p>Childhood is so short; it is if you just wink then your children are grown up.&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;I really think that schools should try to keep these things away from them as long as possible.&nbsp;</p>
<p>Please let them play.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Teach them how to keep themselves busy with board games, and most important to me let them read.&nbsp; My daughter is an adamant reader, and because of that I think she is &nbsp;ahead of people who just know how to type and think out something to &nbsp;write about on steemit as they do not all specialise in certain &nbsp;subjects.&nbsp;</p>
<p>If you know about cryptocurrency and some of these subjects &nbsp;that we as old people know nothing about, they mostly go for anything to &nbsp;write about. &nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Then there are people who write about their speciality like making &nbsp;food.&nbsp;</p>
<p>I love those posts because you always see something you can &nbsp;learn, that you never knew before.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Then there are people who travel, and travel blogs are as nice &nbsp;as it is as if you are busy travelling with them for they get to places &nbsp;you will never see.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>I can carry on like this for ages, but as old people we like writing about our work we use to do, and teaching our children how to get &nbsp;through life the best way possible.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
<p>This is what makes steemit my favourite passtime as now that I am not &nbsp;working anymore, I can cook, travel, see the most beautiful paintings &nbsp;that some people do, and enjoy every minute of it.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
<p>Being old has so many advantages.&nbsp;</p>
<p>You can read what you want on &nbsp;steemit and just live yourself into that story.&nbsp;</p>
<p>So getting back to who &nbsp;is better off, I do not really know, yet I know my children had &nbsp;wonderful childhood, and they did catch up with the ones that were born &nbsp;with all these things at their fingertips.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
<p>I think the only advantage that the older people have is that they &nbsp;have read a lot and therefore have more knowledge about how to read with &nbsp;understanding.&nbsp;</p>
<p>I must say that nowadays I find all children read &nbsp;fluently, but ask them a question about what they have just read and &nbsp;they have no idea because they do not read with understanding.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
<p>To me that is scary. So please teach your children to read with &nbsp;knowledge before you let them start playing games on the computer or x &nbsp;box.</p>
<p>These they will not need when they are grown up, but they will have &nbsp;to be able to read with understanding.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
<p>I see that even children at university are struggling because they &nbsp;work through long pieces of work for their subject yet; they have to do &nbsp;it over, and over until they understand what they were reading.&nbsp;</p>
<p>You lose &nbsp;such a lot of time if you do not understand what you are reading.&nbsp;</p>

<p>So moms and dads let your children play with their computer games and &nbsp;x box for a certain time a day, but then let them read at least one &nbsp;chapter of a storybook until they learn to understand what they are &nbsp;reading.&nbsp;</p>
<p>This could make life so much easier for them all.&nbsp;</p>
