The American trading network Walmart has patented the technology of the energy network based on the technology of the distributed register, which will be able to limit the supply of electricity and pay for it with cryptocurrency. The patent application, which was filed in December 2017, is published on the website of the us patent and trademark Office (USPTO).

According to the developers, their solution is designed to combat the inefficient use of electricity by various household appliances and other devices.

They offer to give each of these devices a certain amount of cryptocurrency, with which they will buy electricity for a certain billing period.

"At the same time, devices in the same network can share funds and energy with each other to maintain their performance for a certain time. All transactions will be recorded in the blockchain, and the owner will be able to track which device consumes more energy than it should," the patent says.

Also, the developers claim that the network can be programmed to sell the excess cryptocurrency to redistribute it to pay for the next billing period.

In April, Walmart submitted two applications to the USPTO, in which it described the use of the blockchain to store payment data and protect them from unauthorized access.
