Today the almost-Mycenaean edition. Wanted to go to the [Mycenaean cemetery](https://www.google.de/maps/place/Mycenaean+cemetery+of+Voudeni/@38.2522147,21.7446987,14z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x135e4a3e952ef7c5:0xeff6c71133ac1c90!8m2!3d38.2535881!4d21.7808113) near Patras, just to see whether there would be anything to see. Since it was already late afternoon, the site itself would have been closed, anyway. | Heute die fast-mykenische Ausgabe. Wollte zum [mykenischen Friedhof](https://www.google.de/maps/place/Mycenaean+cemetery+of+Voudeni/@38.2522147,21.7446987,14z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x135e4a3e952ef7c5:0xeff6c71133ac1c90!8m2!3d38.2535881!4d21.7808113) nahe Patras, nur um zu sehen, ob was zu sehen war. Da es schon Spätnachmittag war, wäre der Park sowieso schon geschlossen gewesen. ------------ | -------------  From where I live the easiest way was to go downtown through the city & then turn towards the mountains. Else I would have had to go over several mountains to get there. Not what I like to do. | Der einfachste Weg für mich führte durch die Unterstadt, um dann wieder Richtung Gebirge zu fahren. Ansonsten hätte ich über mehrere Berge fahren müssen. Nicht so mein Ding. ------------ | -------------  After I had turned towards the mountains, though, the way went constantly uphill, not very steep, but continuously. I hate this. I prefer short steep slopes with longer more relaxing parts in between. The above was the first break I took for some pictures. | Nachdem ich den Weg Richtung Gebirge eingeschlagen hatte, ging es doch leider konstant bergauf, nicht sehr steil, aber unaufhörlich. Hasse das. Mir sind kurze, knackige Anstiege mit eher entspannenden Zwischenstücken lieber. An der Stelle, die man oben sieht, machte ich die erste Pause für ein paar Bilder. ------------ | -------------  Particularly this row of beehives was nice, although in the photo, the colours don't come out as they should. You see a lot of beehives in the countryside around Patras (though honey is pretty expensive here, anyway), but usually not so nicely located. | Besonders diese Reihe von Bienenkörben gefiel mir, obwohl auf dem Foto die Farben nicht so gut rauskommen. Man sieht in der Umgebung von Patras übrigens recht viele Bienenstöcke (Honig ist trotzdem ziemlich teuer), wenn auch nicht oft so nett positioniert. ------------ | -------------  There were lots of grasshoppers in that area, but they were too camera shy. One of them (which jumped away when I tried to get closer) is in the above image. Can you see it? This should make it easier: | Dort gab es viele Heuschrecken, aber die waren zu kamerascheu. Eine (die wegsprang, sobald ich etwas näher kam) ist aber auf dem obigen Bild. Wo nur? Hier wird es deutlicher: ------------ | -------------  Sadly, it was not the best of days for me. To take the above pictures I turned off the autofocus & forgot to turn it on again. Hence I had to delete a lot of photos made afterwards. I only noticed when I was near the parking lot of the cemetery. There was this nice outcrop of a mountain: | War leider ein eher mieser Tag. Um die Grashüpfer zu fotografieren, schaltete ich den Autofokus aus & vergaß, ihn wieder zu aktivieren. Daher mußte ich einen Haufen danach entstandener Fotos löschen. Fiel mir erst auf, als ich in der Nähe des Parkplatzes des Friedhofs war. Dort sah ich diese interessante Kuppe: ------------ | -------------  Also found another line of beehives. They are not very well visible, but I wanted to get all the colours of the setting sun (down below is one with focus on the beehives): | Nahebei waren auch wieder einige Bienenstöcke. Nicht sehr gut sichtbar, da mir die Farben der untergehenden Sonne wichtiger waren, aber ganz unten ist ein Foto mit Fokus auf den Bienenkörben: ------------ | -------------  The area in which the cemetery is located is quite nice. There are not too many people living there & you have a nice view down onto the sea: | Die Gegend, in der der Friedhof sich befindet, ist recht ansehnlich. Es wohnen nicht allzuviele Leute dort & man hat einen guten Blick auf die See: ------------ | -------------  Near the cemetery is also a monastery, called Holy Monastery of Zoodochos Pigi Ano Syachena (Ιερά Μονή Ζωοδόχου Πηγής Άνω Συχαινά). Will see that I get closer to it next time I go there, although it doesn't seem to be open to the public very often. | In der Nähe befindet sich auch das Heilige Kloster von Zoodochos Pigi Ano Syachena. Werde beim nächsten Mal sehen, ob ich etwas näher rankomme, auch wenn man anscheinend normalerweise nicht rein kann. ------------ | -------------  I went a bit further uphill, to see whether it was possible to get a look inside the cemetery park from above, but was unsuccessful. At least I got another nice shot of the sunset. | Bin dann noch ein bißchen höher gefahren, um vielleicht einen Blick von oben auf den Friedhof zu erhaschen, war aber erfolglos. Wenigstens konnte ich noch ein gutes Bild vom Sonnenuntergang machen. ------------ | -------------  Then the sun disappeared behind the horizon & my front wheel was anyway leaking air again (a new inner tube, just a few days old, hrrmph). I took some pomegranates from a tree beside the street & headed home. | Dann verschwand die Sonne hinter dem Horizont & mein Vorderrad verlor sowieso wieder Luft (neuer Schlauch, nur ein paar Tage drin, grumpf).
