There's no identity without a unique symbol. Football clubs are no different. Their club badges glorify their existence and bring the spirit of unity and togetherness among fans. Here's a tailored pick of six of the most striking crests in club football. Remember this is Part 1.


# 6. Bengaluru FC (India)

The logo features a mythical two-headed bird named Gandaberunda, known to possess magical powers and the Bangalore palace which belonged to the Woodeyars, the erstwhile native rulers.



# 5. Boca Juniors (Brazil)

While the logo is a simple shield with ocean blue backdrop and yellow stars on it, there’s actually a slight catch. They keep on adding a star for every title win. Recently they won their 70th title. So they might have to consider modifications in the crest or else could run out of space soon.



# 4. Blackburn Rovers FC (England)

The iconic red rose in Lancashire based football club and not to forget Premeir League winners of 1995, Blackburn Rovers is simple and elegant looking. What is more appealing is the Latin motto inscribed in the badge, ‘Arte Et Labore’ meaning ‘By Skill And Labour’.



# 3. FC Koln (France)

I am sure you must have seen this logo at least once. A billy goat positioned over Cologne’s famous cathedral ‘Kolnerdom’. In 1950, the club acquired a goat as a gift from a local circus. Since then it has been added to the club identity. Football is fun.





# 2. Deportivo Colo Colo (Chile)

They are the most successful club in Chilean football. In their 96-year history they have never been relegated. The club crests honours the native Mapuche chief Colo Colo who was a central figure in the wars against Spanish Empire. As such the club represents the land and its people.



# 1. Asante Kotoko SC (Ghana)

Talk about football in Africa, you can’t miss out Ghana. Asante Kotoko Sporting Club is the most successful club back there. The club’s crest has an illustration of a porcupine with its quills raised, most likely taken from the native rulers insignia who used to rule the land in the past. The motto reads, ‘Kum Apem A, Apem Beba’ which translates to ‘Kill a Thousand and a Thousand more will come.’
