**At the moment many friends and girlfriends are on a white track. I'm not jealous, because I too have been able to cover a lot of kilometers on my snowboard last week. I maneuvered past every obstacle with a rotten passage. Not in reality, but virtually. Steep is completely dedicated to the Olympic Games. Reason enough to once again dive into the game and become champion of the champions. Steep Road to the Olympics shows that the ride to an Olympic medal is not easy. But is it more sensible to actually train, or to put on a onesie and just to become a virtual champion on the couch?**
## Trifecta
I am quite pleased with Steep. The winter sports game is a beautiful representation of life as an extreme athlete. The disadvantage, however, is that the game gives little guidance. You mess up a bit and go hunting for some assignments, but there is no real line. Road to the Olympics is changing that. We crawl into the skin of an aspiring Olympic Medalist. However, a medal is not enough. No, we are going straight for three. The Olympic Games of PyeongChang introduces a new discipline in the form of Snowboard Big Air. The two other disciplines come in the form of Slopestyle and Halfpipe. The road is long, the road is heavy, but with some training you seem to be pretty simple.
As the upcoming Olympic Games takes place in South Korea, we first have to get used to the environment. We start far before the Games with the training in Japan. Old buildings, beautiful trees and crackling powder are the main actors here. After a long training session you take part in qualifying matches and you can ultimately participate in the actual games. It gives a slightly different ambiance than you are used to from the game, and that is a welcome addition to Steep. All phases of the training are discussed by Olympic medal winners. Nice, but not what I play the game for.
## Nice, but not thunderous
During the game you fly from assignment to assignment. Of course there are several new challenges where you can win gold, silver or bronze. These assignments are also dedicated to the Olympic Games. So you can participate in the slalom, Super-g, and cross events. You do this all in the new areas that come with this DLC. Japan and South Korea offer something different than the Alps that we are used to. It is more of a playground with large ice fields and stunt parks. So you're grinding, jumping and spinning a lot. However, what you see a lot in this expansion, mainly in the story, is that you are being held a lot by the hand. Everything has a tutorial and those trainings go mega slow. So you have to repeat some assignments four times, while you also understand it after the first time.
## Conclusion
Steep: Road to the Olympics is an entertaining expansion that will keep you fresh for a few hours. You get a little more grip because you have a clear goal. In addition, the new challenges are a nice addition and the new areas also look good. This part is more about commerce and that can best use the game. It is a pity that during the story you are held on the hand and that you have to repeat many things endlessly. Nonetheless, Road to the Olympics is a nice addition to an already excellent game. Do not expect the story to be an emotional epic that can force you to tear, because there is no more than a chatter about the long road to a medal.
