A good portion of this derives from indoctrination.
Fear and hate are easy to get together.
So, most people fear what they do not know.
In school, we are indoctrinated about how good and noble our country is. It is literally propaganda, our history books. Stories of how great our great men where. And have almost nothing to do with understanding what actually happened. Modern school history is just a hodgepodge of "great men" and dates. Its not even told in a connected fashion.
So, we think that "our" country is noble and good. That all the wars we fought were justified and necessary.
Further, we never learn about other countries. They are always left as nebulous bad guys. Or even more nebulous good guys.
Then the MSmockingbirdM tells everyone to be afraid of such and such.
The outcome is lots of fear and hate.
We all know we are suffering, and we are looking around for the cause, and the media says, its those guys.
And the real suffering causes are never talked about.
Such as, when we hear about inflation, do we go grab our guns and find the cause and put it to death? No, we just think of it as inevitable.
