Morale in the workplace.
Motivation is not something that just happens, it is influenced by need and it has determined our development as the human race. When we wake up for work in the morning, our motivation is money so we can feed ourselves. But it is a primal motivation...

# Do you enjoy working?
This can be boiled down to a simple yes or no question, but the answer usually belies many other thoughts. Either answer boils down to morale; the motivation, determination and discipline.

#### YES
If you wake up in the mornings and you are able to look forward to going to work, you are very fortunate. You may have fantastic pay or benefits. You may be friends with your boss, or you may even be the boss... You are enjoying your work, therefore, you will be a lot more productive.

But what if you hated your job?

#### NO
I honestly believe that this is the more common and rational answer. You work every day for barely any recognition and when you do something incredible, others take the credit. Why did you work so hard? As motivation and morale slips, productivity also disappears. This makes it even harder to be noticed.

Perhaps you own a business but you dread going to the office because things are not working and your workforce is on the verge of revolt.

Not enjoying your work happens and makes sense...

## Coping while demoralised
* You are not alone.

There will be many that feel the same. Get to know these people and speak to them, but do not wallow in your misery. Sometimes perspective is all you need to in order to regain some motivation.
If you are the boss, speak to your team and find out how you can improve the situation. A boss is not a one man army.

* Take time off

If you cannot take time off, you have not worked long enough to be miserable! So take the time and relax, reevaluate and act. During times like these, clarity of thought can help you find ways of improving your situation.

A boss might not just be able to take time off, but nothing stops you from taking some time during work for some motivation. Have an office party or a brainstorming session. Not only will this help motivate your staff, it also gives an opportunity for you to connect with your staff as people. Maybe all that you needed was to motivate those around you. Demoralised people affect you too...

* Change course.

Sometimes there really is no other choice, your workplace is toxic and will kill you. **Get out!**

Nothing prevents you from finding other work or creating other opportunities. Sometimes you have to realise that you are working for a lost cause and there is no shame in moving on...

Even a business owner has to realise when his goal is lost! But in that situation, moving on can be more difficult. Cut your losses and reapply yourself. continuing with a failing plan is worse than starting over with a new plan...
