Fully agree.  The sky is the limit for anyone that is willing to put forth effort.

Not thinking you can do something will result in just that, not accomplishing it.

Believing in yourself and trying to do something, SOMETIMES will result in success.  Yes we all fail, but personally I feel much better when I fail at 3 things and succeed at 1...than to fail completely by not trying at all.

Good post! Besides from believing in himself or herself, self-discipline is important to keep pushing and challenge someone to achieve better!

..and that explains why we're accepting the government infringement on our rights, starting with taxes to total control over every aspect of our lives.  If this social environment was dumped on people all at once as little as 50 years ago, there would have been an immediate revolution.  Instead, we were slowly pushed into a corner and now most don't even realize that it has happened. Definitely we've adapted to harsh conditions, lol

I love this. Being able to adapt seamlessly to new and strange situations is a very nice attribute for one to have in their repertoire. We the citizens of Nigeria can extra relate to this.

Thank you, @Calaber24p for this inspiring post.  Since my (somewhat troubled) teen years I've turned to a quote by French poet, Rimbaud, for inspiration that echoes what you are saying above:

*The only unbearable thing is that nothing is unbearable.*

Pity that we don't often change unless we must (triggered by calamity) instead of the calm realization that our old ways are not working.

As an executive function , self-control is a cognitive process that is necessary for regulating one's behavior in order to achieve specific goals . 
A related concept in psychology is emotional self-regulation .Self-control is like a muscle, and when stretched humans can adapt to any condition, whether hash or not.
