#### Inspired by artist K. Barr,
who our daughter commissioned to paint a wood-slice Christmas ornament featuring Bobi the Bad, I've been on a mission to capture in drawing, paint, or color pencil the cat I actually do love: our old ginger tom, Tommy, The Man  (RIP).

#### Bobi sat on my gouache painting while it was still wet, 
and proceeded to drink the dirty water I'd rinsed paint brushes in. Bad, Bobi, bad for you!

#### The Man of the House,
aka my excellent husband, sliced a few wood circles for me last week, and I've been trying to resurrect my lifelong love of painting, but even with instruction books I just never seem to get it right. ***He*** makes it all look so easy.

but my crude efforts with paint and pencil have me thinking I should sew cute stuffed cat toys instead.

Are you are a painter too? I marvel at that artform. It seems to require much forethought, technical skill and patience. All those layers! I have no idea how it's done, and I admire anyone who does.
I could make those sock sheep though. Not that I want to. I'm trying to get rid of stuff!

***Trying to get rid of stuff***.... and I want to craft sock sheep? But, but, but, I have piles of socks without mates, and the sheep would justify their existence. I can't...just...*throw them away!* .... and all the fabric scraps from our daughter's sewing enterprise (with African wax prints from Ghana). By not throwing things away, I just create more things, which takes time, and these things ultimtely become clutter to discard. Just admit defeat Carol and let things decay... 
Painting. Waaay more mathematical and requiring waaaay more patience than I have. I like the hasty Matisse line drawings. Quick brush strokes. I'm in awe of Impressionists capturing light. My earliest memories are of trying to draw and write. Why. Why. I was a farm kid. Should have been slinging hay bales...

I only slung hay bales once and I itched for a week. I am happy to hear you didn't have to do that. 
I gotta say, my mother was a crafty type and I have a number of sock-sheep type things that she made. I am so happy to have them, and they are not among the items I hope to get rid of.
