The Brazilian brothers Umberto and Fernando Campana have been involved with furniture design since 1989. Umberto is a self-made designer with a degree in law, and Fernando is an architect in education.

The Campana Brothers are one of the most successful designers today. Their handwriting is distinctive and recognizable. Apart from furniture, they also work in the sphere of lighting design.

Approach to objects becomes an art object. Brazilians are often involved with installations displayed on the Lisbon Experiment, MoMA and the London Design Museum.

The Brazilian Brother Duo is an icon in contemporary design. Armchairs with plush toy upholstery (crocodiles, mycelias, costume dolls), coral-like stools, pastels, rattan armchairs incorporating the controversial plastic monoblock (that is, the mass chair available in all cafes , bars in the stations, etc.), armchairs made on the basis of patchwork.

Their designs are pure sculptures, however functional, made by hand in their studio in Sao Paulo. The materials they work from ranging from rope to cardboard, aluminum, tree trunks, even charcoal.

Inspiration is due to the kaleidoscopic São Paulo. The essence of this city (built entirely of contradictions and poles) allows the duo to develop mental life, helping them to create original, ergonomic furniture and objects.

The creation of their creative imagination has helped Italian neo-realism (Michelangelo Antonioni and Pierre P. Pasolini's films), Stanley-Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey, Oscar Niemeyer's work, and the Brazilian design of the 1950s and 1960s years.

An exhibition of the Campbells (Antibodies, The Work of Fernando & Umberto Campana) is running at the German Vitra Design Museum until 28 February.
