New Orleans Excursion || National World War II Museum

Welcome to my post about the __National World War II Museum in New Orleans__! All the pictures are taken and edited by me and this will be an an ongoing series for anyone that wants to *follow* it...Enjoy!

My father and I took in the sights in __The Big Easy__ over the weekend. Went to see the __Saints__ play the __Patriots__ *(for all you NFL fans, that will be my next post in this series)*. We also took a riverboat cruise and toured the __French Quarter__ and a __Bourbon St. Jazz club__.

This museum was the biggest surprise of the trip! Four huge buildings of __airplanes, boats, uniforms, videos__ and so much more. My dad and I were in awe at the exhibits. You start out on a train seeing a video about all the boys going to bootcamp. Tour through a home from that era and see what it was like back in the late __30's and 40's__, along with the lead up to the war.

You walk across the platform to the second building where the top floor is a timeline tour for the __Battle for the Pacific__. It begins with the day that'll live in infamy, moves through to the __Battle for Guadalcanal__. From there it follows __Douglas MacArthur__ and his campaign of island hopping until they the __Battle of Midway__. It all culminates after taking __Okinawa__ and inevitably the Americans dropping the __Atomic Bomb on Nagasaki and Hiroshima__.

The bottom floor of the second building brings you onto the other front of the war. Battling the __Third Reich, Mussolini and the USSR__. It was also a walkthrough timeline with some of the most interesting __weapons__ I had ever seen. Learned a lot about the way the war unfolded with __Adolf Hitler__ double crossing the __Stalin__ and the __Gothic Line__ during the invasion of __Italy__.

The third and final building for our tour (because we spent 4 hours already and they closed before we could go see the boats in the last building... but we saw them through the window when we left). I don't know how in the world they got that __B24 Bomber__ in that building or if they built that building around it but woah was that thing huge! It was the same type of plane that __Louie Zamperini__, the olympic runner that got shot down in the __Pacific__ and spent years as a __POW in Japan__.
