Little Lord Fauntleroy is a 1980 film and is a film whose themes are always active and not by chance is projected during the Christmas period so that it can sweeten the hearts of all those who watch it on TV. The first time I saw it I was in the company of my grandmother and she was very keen to watch it because the little and blond Cedric was particularly fond of her.

The story tells of a legacy that little Cedric Errol, just 7 years old, suddenly receives after all the heirs of the Count of Dorincourt die and he, born from the relationship of his younger son and a non-noble woman, is designated to become heir of the count, although the latter initially does not accept it. Cedric is accustomed to a very simple standard of living, wandering around with local merchants and the popular people of his city and is very much appreciated by everyone. When he moved to England from his grandfather, the Earl of Dorincourt, his life changed drastically. He is always locked in the building, he is forbidden to relate to the poor people who live outside the walls of the building.

This film denounces the bad custom found for decades of the net racism that the nobles of the palace had towards the poor people or their subordinates. There was no relationship whatsoever and no interest in their terms. In this film there are very moving scenes in which the small Cedric manages to visit the poorest areas outside the palace and for the first time he knows that deep sense of sadness and sorrow, not understanding why his grandfather, so rich, allowed all this.

Slavery is a condition that unfortunately still exists today in many poor countries and in the film it is often well described by the tone in which the grandfather turns to the servants, in an always cold and authoritarian way. It is a film that I would recommend to see also for the young people of this millennium because it is very educational and really explains the meaning of Christmas, in which there are no differences between race, color and religion and everyone should be seated at the same table, every day.
