<p>Todayยดs news is that Emirates Islamic is going to be the first Islamic bank to register its cheques on the blockchain.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The Cheque Chain project foresees that the bank will have each cheque leaf registered on the Bankโ€™s blockchain platform enabling it to validate the authenticity of the cheque at source.</p>
<p>At this point, Western Europe and the USA seem to be lagging behind Africa and the Arab world in terms of implementing blockchain in governmental/regulated processes. Does this mean something?&nbsp;</p>

But what is the difference? It still has the same regular interest rate as a regular bank. 2.5% per annum is still not enough to give you a little because of the inflation rate.

It seems to not be a unique instance as Ripple(Created XRP) have partnered with the  National Bank of Abu Dhabi for cross border payments earlier in February this year. Blockchain is really making waves!

It seems the Middle East is adopting it quite well and hopefully it's a sign of things to come.
