Amo i fiori con lo stigma verde e questo è uno di quelli.

Sono molto legato a questo cactus anche se in circa 4 anni di coltivazione ancora devo riuscire a ben capire la sua esposizione e tipo di terreno. Nonostante questo,  da 3 anni a questa parte riesce a darmi un fiore annuale, che però riesco a vedere soltanto ora in quanto il primo l'ho trovato rotto una mattina, dalle intemperie penso e il secondo si era aperto malissimo. 

Questo è un fiore prevalentemente notturno, si apre la sera per rimanere aperto fino al mattino inoltrato, per poi richiudersi nelle ore più calde della giornata. Dura qualche giorno e l'odore è molto delicato anche se praticamente nullo.

La ssp.gentry è  quasi priva di spine, contrariamente però al calice del fiore che ne è ricoperto.
