Peppers To Be Proud Of!
Hey everyone, I have always loved Chilli Peppers, as a child my mother caught me munching on the Chilli Sauce in the kitchen to her shock and dismay, straight out of the bucket and at a ripe 'old' age of 2 years old. In South Africa it is known at Atcha. A mix of raw mango's and chilli's, really delicious and a favourite amongst the 'hot heads' like myself!

I thought I would start off with what I would deem as one of my top 3 prettiest
chilli's ever. Just look at this beauty what is not to like? These grow in prolific numbers given the right conditions and take around 2 weeks to turn red/ripen from this size.

Next up we have my Jalapeno's (pronounced Halapeno) one of the most commonly known chilli's globally and widely utilized and with a distinct taste profile as they have why not?

 ![20200107_140651.jpg](https://ipfs.busy.org/ipfs/QmesWaFKActVRuFovPt8ds4WWSmEGXvm36VfHTLb8N7pub)

Interesting Jalapeno Facts not too many folks are aware of. These as with all other chilli's are incredibly high in Vitamin C as well as other health and healing benefits. Which probably explains why I am never sick I literally eat these on a daily basis.

As per Wikipedia.org: Scientific name: Capsicum annuum 'Jalapeño'

Vitamin A	21%	Vitamin C	197%
Calcium	1%	Iron	1%
Vitamin D	0%	Vitamin B-6	20%
Cobalamin	0%	Magnesium	3%

Vitamin C values incredibly high comparable only to citrus!

The jalapeño (UK: /ˌhæləˈpeɪnjoʊ/ HAL-ə-PAY-nyoh, US: /ˌhɑːl-/ HAHL-,[1][2][3] Spanish: [xalaˈpeɲo] (About this soundlisten)) is a medium-sized chili pepper pod type cultivar of the species Capsicum annuum.[4] A mature jalapeño chili is 5–10 cm (2–4 in) long and hangs down with a round, firm, smooth flesh of 25–38 mm (1.0–1.5 in) wide. It can have a range of pungency, with Scoville heat units of 3,500 to 3,600.[5] Commonly picked and consumed while still green, it is occasionally allowed to fully ripen and turn red, orange, or yellow. It is wider and generally milder than the similar Serrano pepper.[6] The Chile Pepper Institute is known for developing colored variations.[7][8]

Do check out more here as per wikipedia.org a very interesting read indeed: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jalape%C3%B1o

Another very common Chilli Pepper the humble Cayene. As per Wikipedia.org: The cayenne pepper is a type of Capsicum annuum. It is usually a moderately hot chili pepper used to flavor dishes. Cayenne peppers are a group of tapering, 10 to 25 cm long, generally skinny, mostly red-colored peppers, often with a curved tip and somewhat rippled skin, which hang from the bush as opposed to growing upright. Most varieties are generally rated at 30,000 to 50,000 Scoville units.[1]

The fruits are generally dried and ground to make the powdered spice of the same name, although cayenne powder may be a blend of different types of peppers, quite often not containing cayenne peppers, and may or may not contain the seeds.[2]

Cayenne is used in cooking spicy dishes either as a powder or in its whole form. It is also used as a herbal supplement.

More info here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cayenne_pepper

To be honest the below fruit I have no clue what it is. However I have eaten it recently and it is delicious and as hot as hell, not a super hot as far as I am concerned based on the leaf shape.

![20200107_141341.jpg](https://ipfs.busy.org/ipfs/QmZVrgsusCAzD2CXcyxTbVd8c4qFQ9AnZZJ2seruKVGByk)

Any guesses what these are? Chinese 5 Colour, this picture is self explanatory! More an ornamental chilli, very nice as a garden feature or potted outside your house. Not my favourite to eat, but minced up with other varieties in a nice hot sauce naturally delicious too!

![20200107_141322.jpg](https://ipfs.busy.org/ipfs/QmZ5YsRHoNu8SR2VsN9ZC8jDz3WjDXD56ZXBVxG6eenF3d)

I always like to save the best for last and most of you that follow me regularly here will know just what my favourite are? The Worlds hottest Chilli Pepper, measuring a WHOPPING 1.6 Million Scoville commonly known only as the CAROLINA REAPER...

![20200107_141434.jpg](https://ipfs.busy.org/ipfs/QmV5ijEkopB4Bm93NgtEJ8TZAeLsWzf8tkVhpEzzSqCWBV)

I currently have around 20 Carolina Reaper Plants some in the big pot outside my house and some in the garden at the bottom of the plot. The first pic my plants in the gardens have just started to fruit, so nice to see these finally carrying.

![20200107_140634.jpg](https://ipfs.busy.org/ipfs/QmY8RFLH1tKHnESD4a4HrdHbnaosbwj4J7cGWPMM5PcUJ7)

The above plant has been fruiting for around 2 months now. These have still not turned red or yellow so at this stage I am not too sure which colour they are as I purchased both yellow and red Reapers, it should be really interesting to see what we have here all will be clearer in a week week or two.

Nature truly is incredible and growing your own chilli's 'on demand' as I do, amazing :)

I trust you have a super cool week and with Bitcoin finally looking to do big things why not? Let's just hope Steem follows ASAP.

Cheer$;)

Cool! I tried to grow my [own chilli](https://steempeak.com/cesky/@tazi/prvni-ochutnavka) last year. The first try was with De Cayenne with only 50k SHU. I will continue with another chilli this year.

I keep 2 green-cheeked conures and they love chilli a lot ;)

I don't know how other birds, but parrots do not have capsaicin receptors and they do not feel the hot from chili. They love it ;)
