Over the last few days I have noticed a few posts saying that the support levels have dropped and people are doing less than ever. This has happened before on many occasions when we had the get rich quick bunch on here and they left.

I think the support is still here but the values of support have dropped for a number of reasons. When I say value of support is that a huge percentage of users votes have dropped in value. You are most likely getting a similar number of votes on your posts,but the rewards are down.

Many users are delegating to various apps so they can claim tokens and receive some support from the apps upvoting their content.This wasn't the case a few months ago with users growing their accounts and their vote values were worth a lot more.

The other obvious one is the vote values have dropped because the price of Steem has dropped which leads to less activity anyway. I don't know why as the value of earning the same amount of Steem is still there it is just a different way of thinking.

I am fortunate that I have been growing my sbi's over the last few months as I think they will become more and more important going forward. They at least guarantee you a vote on your post without self voting.I am sure self voting may increase if this carries on much longer as it seems like it is an attitude of everyone for themselves.

I'm with you on the value of SBI. It definitely feels like a good usage of the steem you don't power up.

That said, I'm holding onto my Steem until I hit 700SP.  Once I get that (I'm really close right now), I'm going to power up all of it and really boost myself.

I think you have to build your foundations now while Steem is low in value. Will you be prepared to spend your Steem on sbi's if Steem was at $5 or$6. I know I probably wouldn't so i have made a point of buying more now whilst it is still cheap. I said I wanted 100 and now I am hoping to eventually have 500. I don't think you can ever have too many so I will grab as many as I can along the way. Just keep growing and power up at every opportunity.

I've noticed my VP creeping up to 90% more of late - a sure sign that people are less active!

The ironic thing about SBI is that the fewer people who post the higher our vote value!

I was discussing this last night how the VP is a tell tale sign that users are awol. It is strange when you start going to look for new users to vote when normally you are a little overstretched. Didn't realise that about sbi's but makes perfect sense.

I'm really not that concerned about how much I make now. I've done well and of Steem rises I'll do okay. Given that we are losing those who just came for money we should do more to support those who are posting good content that could attract more users. If an artist or vlogger is doing well they will tell their friends. We need that sort of network effect. The other social sites are attractive because of the content they have, so we need more good stuff to compete.

I've been off steemit for a few weeks as RL has gotten a little busy, I have come back on to post and have noticed that the value of steem has dropped, shame but it should get back up again.  
While it's low I might even buy some more to power up my voting power.

Yeah, it concerns me as well but I do notice a lot more support leaving the blog entries and focusing more on the dapps.  I don't pretend to understand how this works but I hope it does.  In the meantime I continue to scour the "New" section looking for newbies that need support and a bit of encouragement to stick around.  It can be a really tough situation for people completely new to the format and since I think it is still entirely too difficult for new users to get in at all (unlikely to change because of security) I think we need to focus on the little guys, at least a bit.

I remember when the price dropped to seven cents and then hovered around the teens for ages. People went mad because it got totally shit.

Obviously when the price went up it got lots better but you know that was an eye opener as well. Contrary to what you would believe our think, a lot of is who stuck with the platform through the bad times felt incredibly betrayed as all the people who had left came flooding back and picked up right where they left off and were raking it in. The people who had been loyal all felt dumped on and they carried on getting the shitty rewards.

My god man, I think this is the second negative comment I have written today. It's not like me!

You can still grow even though you delegate a lot out. I am proof of that. It is sad that there seems to be so much less activity though.  Hopefully that will turn around soon.
