What are all the highly paid people in the large advertising firms do with their time?  Do they create ads?  No, their number one job is to make sure that particular brands are not placed along side certain subjects.

Like McDs and drugs.  You don't see them together.

Advertising is not a free-for-all.  It is not a highest bidder competition.  It is a psychological operation.  And, everything you are watching unfold now was planned.

The thing that was not planned was independent creators coming along and doing news better then the big news companies, while simultaneously people started seeing through the bullshit that MSmockinbirdM propaganda.

As they (finally) realize the possibilities of a free, open and permissionless internet, old networks and media really do seem to be threatened by the possibility of permanently losing their priesthood-like monopoly on information. This is why issues like killing net neutrality and even the W3C decision to include DRM in their standards are going to have far reaching effects for years to come.

 I believe the world will be a worse place if these things happen. The fact that these ideas get any traction seems like a very big speedbump in the trajectory towards the ideal information age, of which freedom is a big part. I hope they don't represent a turning point in history. 

Steem is a part of that ideal trajectory, and I hope people that realize this can thrive here. At the same time I hope that Steem isn't the only place that these viewed are shared.

I remember the old days when people uploaded videos to Youtube for nothing but fun.

they can go to pull their ads on youtube and put them on cnn and stuff instead but they will always get less views and clicks.  Google should show their balls in this case. Because their power is their user base. And now they are caving and screwing their userbase and content creators trough it. Causing them to start using mediums like patreon or move to competitive websites like vid.me. However It is up to us the avarage internet user like us to make these advertisers obsolete if these big company's keep playing dirty manipulative games like this.

Help them to come over, not to save YouTube

I believe the problem is that the word of Steemit has not reached enough people. Or it has not reached them in an impactful way. I would be willing to fund a comprehensive Steemit ad campaign with the percentage of my STEEM. Would you?

I think Youtube and the other mainstream social media like Facebook and Twitter are starting to penalize all the not-mainstream contents, when using their ads systems and algorithms.

Steemit would be a great alternative and may benefit from this mainstream decline in advertising.

We need a censorship resistant video hosting service where creators can publish content and make money on ads and whatever. I wonder if steemit is up for that challenge.

I just don't understand. We all are to stupid to get some money out of YT and we  easy find out about steemit. And all those smart and successful guys who milking YT for years can't find out about steemit.  Are they really so smart? Weird. Why we need to drag them in ?

I went to UCSC with ethan from h3h3  and I have been commenting over last few weeks about how ethan shoudl switch to bitchute and monetize with steemit

This can result in swicthing of platform, that costs we have to earn the reputation again.

I just created an account myself - still trying to get around to the apparently traditional introduce myself post, but wanted to find some people to follow before doing so.

So far, I see fewer big name youtubers on this platform than I did on Minds. Hopefully that changes.
