I came across this article today posted by someone on her Facebook feed and I checked this article out because I love X-files series back in my childhood time. So X-files heroin incorporates the trend of ‘living apart together’(LAT) in her lifestyle. 
This LAT trend basically means an agreed preference where you are still in an intimate relationship with your partner but not living in the same roof. 
It sounds hilarious but makes sense at the same time. 
I thought why not just end the relationship.
Easier said than done right. 
As for the case of Ms. Gillian and other couples that practicing this LAT by choice(those couple living apart because of their job/business nature are excluded), perhaps this group just trying to retain their broken relationship/need to fix the relationship by giving each other space to contemplate their situation and life. 
I think it's a good way for some period of time to have clarity on whether or not to continue the relationship and move on. 
Too long in LAT without fixing and dissect the underlying issues in the relationship won't do good either. 
They either fix the problem in the relationship or end it for good and for god sake just stop looking for new relationship in the name of just because you feel lonely. 

The other reasons for this revolution in an intimate relationship especially  for the older adults are; 
they feel like they’ve been through the traditional relationship model, 
they’ve made their lives their own, 
and they don’t want to give that up—but they still want an intimate and romantic relationship. 
The seemingly obvious solution is to get into relationships where both partners can 
keep their homes, 
their finances, 
their routines, and, 
ultimately, their independence. 

It's a life of having your home decorated just how you want it, dealing with only your mess, having your own sleep schedule, and always getting the good coffee mug.

When you think of it that way, it seems pretty appealing—and you might start to wonder why more people don't join the LAT ranks.
 As our X-files heroin said in her interview on this LAT movement, 
> one of the benefits is that she can now see “a pair of trousers left lying on the floor at my partner’s house and step over them and not feel it is my job to do something about it.


Its really comeback to the basic of know yourself well and know what you want in a relationship and your partner. 
You can only change yourself and if your partner does not correlate with the change that you did to yourself than time to move on from that toxic relationship. 
Law of Affinity taking it place here again,like attract like, if you evolve to another higher frequency lanes, staying on the lower level frequency will not help in your soul growth, it will either inhibit your growth or drag you down further.

Its really interesting and fascinating to witness all of this revolutions taking it place in humankind,from the freedom of will, freedom of monetary system, freedom of speech,freedom of gender preferences, freedom of intimate relationship lifestyle and more freedom of other choice that human can fantasize of and create their own destiny.
Again they have to constantly asked themselves, does this fulfilled my soul and meaningful?
