Iv'e been asked this a bit now since I started streaming a bit more and I wanted to clear it up so i stop getting asked the question, the main reason I don't use a face cam is really two reasons, one, because I want people to focus on my game play rather than what's happening in my room or what my face is doing, if i wanted to do that i'd probably just make meme youtube reaction videos like everyone else, but i'd prefer if people focused on my game play first and me second.
Secondly from a more mechanical standpoint, my room is dark, like really dark, I sleep during the day so I have a blackout curtain on the only light source in my room, iv'e been playing in dark rooms for about 15 years now( I know I know, it's terrible) and having even a lamp on in my room somewhere distracts the hell out of me and I can't focus, in many regards i'm like a mole and work better in the darkness so you'd probably be able to make out a tiny bit of room from the glow of my screen but that's about it, doesn't make for the greatest face cam in history and as such iv'e never really bothered to improve on it.
Obviously i'd probably get more viewers with a face cam but at the end of the time the stream is about the game play and i'd rather people focus on that more than what my face is doing and how many coffee cups I have stacked on my desk at any given time haha.
