My mother just decided to make some rice cake today. It is a kind of a sweet delicacy of a cooked sticky rice in coconut milk and cream with a topping of curdled and toasted coconut cream. And with all that stickiness and cream you could just imagine how it taste like and it tastes like a nutty heaven with a soft mouthfeel. You would love it as a dessert after eating and of course as an afternoon or even a midnight snack.

It quite excites me today when we cook such native cakes because it doesn't happen very often and sometimes I am just the one initiating it and telling my parents to make something that we can enjoy to make and eat just to make a difference in from our daily life routines especially with changing the foods we usually eat because we actually have a small selection of foods that we eat in here and all the recipes we cook are just almost the same day after day.

 In my home we are just so limited in dishes that we cook. It will be either an Adobo, fried, fish stewed in vinegar, sinigang, or nilaga or boiled meat with vegetables, or chicken cook in ginger, all eaten with rice. Majority of the people in my country just rotates the said dishes all year round.

It is just sad that we just can't eat all the dishes that we want in our lifetime because I myself want to taste what a Perigord Truffles tastes like or if that Black Sea Sturgeon caviar is yummy or just like a salty fish eggs. Some of the fruits that I am longing to have like the Pomegranates or just a Passion fruit won't even touch my lips before I die and I will just ask God on how they taste like if I do die before being able to bite some of the earth's natural gifts to living things.

But today I am okay with the rice cakes ad will just happily wait for them until my father is done with the heavy mixing after my mother had also done the preliminary cooking of the rice cakes as it has to be cooked in the pot first.
