Hello Steemians! As you might know, I am taking a break from the [Steem-Oracle project](https://steemit.com/steemoracle/@culgin/the-steem-oracle-project-world-cup-prediction-game-wrap-up) which I was running. When I take breaks, I play games 😎. I originally planned to do my first dlive broadcast with this game but it did not quite work out. So, instead of leaving this post empty, allow me to write a brief intro about this game instead.

<h2>Game mechanics</h2>

<h3>Overview</h3>

Slay the Spire is a rogue-like deck-building game. Every playthrough is different and your objective is to reach the final boss in Act 3. Along the way, you have to make choices and fight enemies. Each combat provides random loots and definitely allow you add 1 card to your deck. It is entirely up to you whether you want to add more cards to your deck, but it will be difficult/costly to remove cards from your deck later on.

The combat is basically a turn-based card game. Like most card games, there is a draw pile, a discard pile and cards in your hand. Each turn you get to draw 5 random cards from the draw pile. To play a card, a number of energies are consumed and you typically only has 3 energies at the start of each turn. All these can be modified as you pick up relics or potions throughout the game.

You have a HP bar, if your HP drops to 0, you lose. And you aim to kill all enemies in each combat. Each card is a combination of either blocking an incoming attack, dealing damage to enemies, buffing yourself or nerfing the enemies. It is quite important to strategize your move based on the next expected move from the enemies.

The next big element of the gameplay involves making choices at a macro level. Your choice of path matters a lot as you do not get to regenerate your HP after each combat (unless you have certain items).

Each place on the map serves a different purpose. Most places have an enemy which you can fight and get loots. There are also treasure site which you will get a free loot. A merchant site for you to purchase item with gold. A rest site for you to gain HP or upgrade a card. You have to pick your path carefully so that you can balance the combats you have to fight and the other sites you will visit. Ultimately, your goal is to go as far as possible and take out the final boss in Act 3.

<h2>Conclusion</h2>

Slay the Spire is the game which I am current hooked on. I will try to work on broadcasting on DLive again so that you guys can better appreciate the game.
