Estepona, el jardín de la Costa del Sol.

Esta bella ciudad está cambiando el concepto de turismo que todo el mundo tiene asociado a poblaciones costeras de Andalucía como es Sol y playa, por el **arte y la botánica**.
Igual que ha hecho Málaga de apostar por la cultura, Estepona lleva más de 5 años reformando su casco antiguo, creando cerca de **15 kilómetros** de calles peatonales sin tráfico rodado.

Sabiendo del potencial que tienen los barrios clásicos andaluces, le han dado una nota de color a sus calles históricas creando un verdadero jardín con miles de flores. Hibiscos, gardenias, geranios, madreselvas, gitanillas, rosas, claveles, jazmines y muchísimas más variedades engalanan y refrescan con su aroma al visitante.

La Iglesia de Nuestra señora de los Remedios del siglo XVIII en pleno centro. Su torre campanario se ve desde casi toda la ciudad.

Otro gran atractivo que tiene Estepona, es el medio centenar de fachadas de edificios que se han convertido en obras de arte gracias a artistas de todo el mundo, que han realizado unos murales en distintas partes del municipio.

Este mural es el de mayor superficie vertical que se ha realizado en España con mil metros cuadrados.

Si viajamos a la Costa del Sol, no nos podemos perder una visita al **mayor orquidario** que existe en Europa. Y esta aquí, en Estepona.

Con sus tres cúpulas de cristal, la mayor con más de 30 metros de altura, se está convirtiendo en seña de identidad de la ciudad.

Contiene más de 5000 plantas y más de 1300 especies de orquídeas de todo el mundo.

Y una cascada que genera la humedad necesaria para la buena salud de las plantas tropicales.

Coincidí con la exposición de una "flor cadáver". Es la flor más grande del mundo, que puede llegar a medir mas de 2,5 metros de altura.

Esta flor desprende un olor a putrefacción para atraer a moscas e insectos que son los encargados de polinizar para asegurar su reproducción.

Saliendo del orquidario encontramos una gran variedad de palmas.

La calle Real, donde se concentran la mayoría de los establecimientos de moda.

Debajo de cada árbol, en el alcorque, hay una pequeña pieza de cerámica con el nombre de un niño o de una niña de la ciudad, que al nacer, le hacen padrino o madrina de la planta.

Llegamos al mar.

Estepona tiene un paseo marítimo con muchos jardines y acondicionado con toldos para que sea muy placentera la visita.
