Now, it’s time to start mixing in the sound and music. Raining this weekend. Good time to stay indoors and work on it a bit.

After talking to Charlie Stanton, the President of Just Imagine it Ink, and the creator of the worldwide hit podcast Get Behind Me, Now Stay There, have decided that the music must build the suspense of the plot, while the sound remains ambient.

As I progress file after file, I will write notes on the editing, and share them on Steemit every Sunday until completed. We’ll then move on with publication, as the Making Red Roses the Audiobook entries continue. 

File names will be given as ACX specified.

01-RedRoses-CyrusEmerson-Opening

Mixed in Rike Luxx music, with Kira Omans Opening reading, during our initial 15 minute sample approval process. Had to mix the actual music as well, because the licensed tracks from Rike Luxx still include a personal promo. However, liked the suspense of that part of the song, along with beat drops, for a powerful Opening credit for Red Roses.

Kept this original mix for final publication.

02-RedRoses-CyrusEmerson-Prologue

Mixed the Prologue too, during the initial 15 minute approval process. Only, used some sound from a Public Domain source on the internet. Want this book to be legit. So going to use a track purchased from Pond 5. Just need to mix it together the same way.

Starting with Rike Luxx music first and there’s a progression in build of beats for the next four chapters. Then the carriage fades in. A dramatic stop in Durham. We meet the Priest, his quest to meet the King now moving forward. There’s not going to be sound here, only Kira reading. Then the carriage sound as they move South to the House of York.

And done. Tried to remember what they said at the first HEAR Now Festival in Kansas City. They said mix in the sound floor first. Then the music. The trick, getting the levels right. Want to hear the narrator. Ambient carriage noise, not overpowering, could have raised the volume a little more. Only in this first minute of audio, I wanted to extend the suspenseful feeling from the Opening as we are introduced to the story.
