I've been taking a break from Steemit, and so I thought it might be fun to watch The Matrix trilogy. While watching the movies I thought this might be a good blog to write about.

It was 1999. I was a punk rock hardcore emo kid living in Gainsville, Florida at the time. I was a huge part of that local scene being in bands/running record labels/etc... My mind wasn't really into the mysteries, or philosophy at the time. I did have interest in these things, but it just wasn't the forefront of my life. This would all change after seeing the movie, The Matrix.

I remember not wanting to see the movie, because it had Keanu Reeves as the main star. At this point in my life I rejected mainstream media and this was before 9/11 (which would and has since reminded me of it's crap). The 90's had proved to me that all MSM was shit, and I still think it's shit. I did not support anything mainstream, but would only support underground things. Things made for/by the People. A rebel I was... :)

I remember the night I saw the movie. My girlfriend at the time wanted to go. I said I didn't want to waste my money. She tells me she has free tickets. So, I said ok.

I can remember literally being dragged into the theater. Walking away from the front doors saying "nope." My arms would be yanked back in. We had a few friends come with us. So young we were...

We get into the movie theater, and grab our seats. I did not expect what was about to happen. Something that would change my life forever.

I watched the movie, I was blown away. By all of it. I too was one who enjoyed hacking away on computers...trying to build websites and even in the early days of AOL had trolled and used programs that would knock people offline. I had been behind a computer since 1994, so I really liked this character, Neo.

The concepts were mind blowing - A.I. and robotics had taken over the human race using them as battery power in order to continue to operate since the humans had blackened the skies. There was a war.

Prophecy, and war against that which wanted to do such things to human beings was exciting, but the concepts of being able to plug into the Matrix and fight this system from the inside was perplexing to me.

I felt the acting was superb on Keanu Reeves part, showing me this guy was a good actor. The last example of him was Bill & Teds Adventure. I liked the movies just fine, but he was locking himself into roles that I couldn't take serious. That all changed with The Matrix.

Watching these movies now is still great. The subjects are still very much relevant to our times, if not more than ever. The concepts are something we should be thinking about as technology continues to go in its direction and how the powers-that-be tends to try to use this technology to control us.

This has all also reminded me of a person named Sophia Stewart who claims she had written the movie's Terminator and The Matrix. Her claims are that her work was stolen and that those two movies are meant to be one and the same. I remember hearing in interviews with her 4 or 5 years ago with her claiming that they were working out a deal where they were thinking of making a movie that would bring The Matrix and Terminator together. That would of been so good! I don't think it's going to happen...

Nonetheless, these movies that were made have been fantastic.They are timeless, and once I walked out of the movie theater it had set me off into a new direction in life. I began to get interested in the concepts, and I still to this day think about them and see how they are somewhat a prophetic vision into our real futures.
